Artist Commentary: My original direction with this image was along the lines of A Wizard of Oz theme, but then I decided to change the direction of the image by placing the toys on top of a mattress... After being drafted by "D.C. United", he played professionally for three years before a major spinal injury forced him to retire. Artist Commentary: This picture took several turns trying to decide how and what the photograph on the wall would eventually be. I tried several different variations before I finally settled on the image that eventually drove the title and subject matter of the piece. Had a lot of fun amping up the color palette.
