Iconic design model "Maralunga" three-seater in thick brown original leather with a fantastic comfort. The sofa designed in the seventies by Vico Magistretti and produced by Cassina. The backrests can be raised or lowered for total comfort. This sofa won the Compasso d'Oro award in 1979. This early production Model #920 modular four-seat sofa by Afra and Tobia Scarpa for Cassina was designed in circa 1966 and this example is from the earlier years of production as evidenced by the early style 'Figli di Amedeo Cassina' labels on each section (see photos). The first prototypes were made to furnish Villa Church, owned by an American couple living in Paris, and the next year a selection was displayed – with much scandal - at the Salon d’Automne at the Grand Palais. Each architect had designed a specific version for the exhibit, the production of which they personally financed, based on their individual ideas and tastes. Their final choice was to show the Le Corbusier version.
