Ariane Beigneux (1918–2011) was an American portrait painter and illustrator best known for her tender, luminous depictions of children, developed over a professional career that spanned more than six decades. Born to French parents in Roxbury, Connecticut, in 1918, Beigneux received her formal art training at the National Academy of Design in New York, studying under Gifford Beal, Sidney Dickinson, and Ivan Olinsky, and later continued her studies at the Art Students League of New York with Jon Corbino and Jean Liberté.
Institutional Lineage and the Golden Age of American Illustration
