Gio Colucci, also known in France as Geo Colucci, was a painter, engraver, illustrator, ceramist and sculptor. From 1921, he exhibited his engravings in various salons. He worked with French publishers specializing in the illustrated books of high bibliophilia, and he also delivered a series of remarkable prints for texts by Barbey d'Aurevilly, Pierre Loti, Guy Maupassant, Octave Mirbeau, etc. In 1956, Colucci and Gino Severini founded the School of Italian Art in Paris. A major retrospective on his work took place in New York in 1959, when he also exhibited at the Quadrennial in Rome. Colucci died in 1974.

Large and striking, this painting by Robert Childers presents a reclining ballet dancer, clothed above the waist in a dancer's sleeveless shirt, but nude below, holding a pink ribbon and accompanied by three wire-back chairs. Enigmatic and full of symbolism, the dancer is facing away from the viewer so his expression cannot be seen; the three chairs with heart-shaped backs suggest that the man may be in love. Childers himself had been a dancer for two years; he also studied painting at the Philadelphia Museum School of Art, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, and Fleisher Art Memorial, all in Philadelphia. A Classic romantic movement oil painting on wood panel depicting two lovers. They are dressed in Renaissance almost theatrical garments and they sit intimately close to one another on a bench. The atmospheric background is set in the middle of a wooded park in the early evening hours before dusk. Their faces are almost in shadow as the brilliant orange/red sun sets behind them. Biography Ferdinand Heilbuth, (1826-1889), was a German-born French painter.
