Born in Barcelona on March 28, 1911, into a family of sculptors and woodcarvers, Palet became familiar with artistic practice from an early age. His natural talent for drawing emerged while assisting in the family workshop, where he developed the technical discipline and visual sensitivity that would characterize his subsequent artistic career. In 1930, he enrolled at La Llotja, Barcelona's historic School of Fine Arts, attending evening classes while continuing to work. Among his teachers were Ramon Calsina, Fèlix Mestres, Labarta, F. Pérez Dols and Antoni Vila Arrufat, important figures in the Catalan artistic tradition. In 1932, Palet became associated with the Cercle Artístic de Sant Lluc and the Reial Cercle Artístic de Barcelona, institutions closely connected to the development of Catalan artistic life. His early career was interrupted by the Spanish Civil War, although he continued to draw and paint throughout this difficult period. During the 1940s, he developed an important relationship with the poet and publisher Josep Janés, contributing to Barcelona's cultural and literary circles.
