'Desert Dream’ - 2016, 20 x 32,2 cm, edition 1/10, digital C-Print based on two Polaroids. Numbered and signed on the back by the artist. Artist Statement “Since my childhood days I always loved taking photos, but for unknown reasons instant film never really caught my attention. After I saw the works of a friend who happened to be a gifted Polaroid photographer, I was totally mesmerized and the desire to shoot with instant film constantly grew in me. But for as long as I can think music has always been my main preoccupation. I somehow always feel the need to create, but my focus shifted more and more from making music to instant photography and it grew into something much more fulfilling and pure. Sometimes, these two passions even come together when I am able to provide my photos for album artworks – this makes me incredibly happy. As I always have been very introverted and reclusive I often drift off into my own inner world. The dreamlike landscapes and surreal atmospheres in my work are the visualization and the result of these imaginations. Another influence on my photography is my essential need to travel the world. But I am not interested in documenting the places I see like they are but rather love to create otherworldly scenes by adding the dreamlike texture of instant film, serving me as a needful escape from reality.” Artist Biography Julia Beyer is an analogue photographer from Germany. Over the course of a 35-year career, Ian crafted captivating images and in recent years used archival techniques to produce his prints. For much of his professional journey, he thrived as both a Commercial and Fine Art photographer eventually focusing on his personal artistic work during his final years. Towards the conclusion of his life's path, Ian and his partner revived two 19th-century printing methods in their studio - Platinum Palladium and Gum Bichromate - culminating in a significant retrospective exhibition in Barcelona sponsored by the Nando and Elsa Peretti Foundation. The Platinum and Palladium prints were particularly noteworthy as they were printed on transparent vellum paper with pure gold or silver bonded to the back, rendering each piece a unique and timeless work of art. Through their artisanal techniques, they created rare and personalized works. Ian Sanderson was one of the few artists worldwide specializing in this type of production. Now, Ian's partner continues their shared legacy, still creating Platinum Palladium prints as well as silver gelatin photographs. He produced images over a 35 year career, and in recent years used archival techniques to produce his prints. For most of his career he worked as both a Commercial and Fine Art photographer, and during his last years concentrated on his personal imagery. Towards the end of his life journey, Ian was reviving with his partner two 19th century printing techniques in their studio, Platinum Palladium and Gum Bichromate ( one-of-a-kind pieces). This culminated in a large retrospective exhibition in Barcelona which was sponsored by the Nando and Elsa Peretti Foundation. The Platinum and Palladium prints are particularly interesting as they printed them onto vellum paper therefore transparent and bonded pure gold or silver to the back of the prints ( every print is therefore a unique and timeless piece of art). They have created rare and personalized pieces with an artisanal technique. Ian Sanderson was one of only a handful of artists worldwide producing this type of work. Nowadays, Ian’s partner continues their work, she’s still creating Platinum Palladium prints but also silver gelatin photographs. Please note that prices increase as editions sell. categories : Black and white Photography, 20th. Century, Archival Pigment Print, Hospitality, Forest, Monochromatic Landscape Art...
