Lieko Shiga Art
b. 1980
Lieko Shiga is a Japanese contemporary artist and photographer, born in 1980, in Aichi, Japan. Based on an instinctive feeling of unease with the convenience and automation of daily life, she has developed an artistic approach that links questions about the nature of the photographic medium, with fundamental questions about life and the means of expressing oneself. She received the coveted Kimura Ihei Photography Award, in 2008. Her works were recently shown in the group exhibition, “In the Wake. Japanese Photographers Respond to 3/11," at The Museum of Fine Arts, in Boston, Massachusetts. She also made the New Photography 2015 shortlist of The Museum of Modern Art, in New York.
