Pierre Cardin Rings

French, Italian, 1922-2020

Best known for creating groundbreaking fashion designs from the 1950s onward, Pierre Cardin enjoyed great success in other design fields, most notably furniture. Cardin’s chairs, cabinets, tables and other pieces share many of the keynotes of his clothing designs. They are simple, geometric, elegant and cool.

Cardin was born in a village near Venice, Italy, and raised in central France. Always interested in fashion, he left home at age 17 to train with a Vichy tailor. After the end of World War II, Cardin moved to Paris and worked for a succession of couture houses, before taking a job with Christian Dior in 1946. Cardin went solo in 1950, and quickly won attention for his novel style.

Unlike Dior’s famous New Look, Cardin’s clothes de-emphasized a woman’s curves; his breakthrough pieces like the Bubble dress had, instead, a sculptural quality. In the following decade, Cardin introduced bright tunic dresses and shifts, marketed as the Space Age look and accessorized with vinyl hats and visors.

In the 1970s Cardin expanded his design work into furniture, jewelry and automobiles. (Later, licensing agreements would put Cardin’s name on goods ranging from perfume to sunglasses.) Cardin’s furniture pieces — inspired, perhaps, by the rediscovery of Art Deco design in that decade — feature simple, symmetrical forms, lacquer and figured veneer finishes, and accents in metals such as aluminum and brass.

Whether you are looking for a vintage cocktail dress or a chest of drawers to keep it in, as you will see on 1stDibs, Pierre Cardin offers an option in either that is timelessly chic.

Geometric ring designed by Pierre Cardin. Sculptural modernist piece, created in France by the Parisian fashion designer Pierre Cardin, back in the 1970. This geometric sculptural ring has been crafted with minimalist patterns in solid sterling silver and yellow gold of 14 karats with high polished finish. This ring is part of the collection created between the 1960 and 1970, when the artist Jean Dinh Van was the creative head in the jewelry department of Pierre Cardin. The design of these rings and other pieces of jewelry from these collections have always been inspired as a design pattern by the letters PC from Pierre Cardin's initials. Composite geometric shapes make up these letters, which although sometimes they are very obvious in the design, in others they are made in a more discreet way. Black Onyx: Mount in a bezel setting, with 3 round flat cabochon cut carved from black onyx. Weight: 16.85 Grams, (10.80 Dwt). Size: 7 sizeable. Measurements: 25 mm by 32 mm (098 x 1.26 Inches) and raise 5 mm over the finger. Hallmarks: Stamped with the maker's mark, the marks for the gold and the silver assay and signed, "PIERRE CARDIN 14K...

Minimalist sterling and gold ring for Pierre Cardin. The 1 1/8" x 7/8" 14k and sterling ring with a flat rectangular square sterling shank embracing a 14k saucer shaped disk. Cardin , known as the "ready to wear" king, was responsible for bringing avant-garde space age fashion, right into the main stream of the population. Hey, he designed the clothing for "Star Trek" what can I say! His success as a designer and marketer is nearly unmatched. Clothing, accessories, furniture, decorative arts, architecture, he placed his mark on everything. His ready to wear idea played a big part in how others positioned their business. Dinh Van was one of those people. His Iconic two pearl ring...
