A truly special example of iconic mid twentieth century design. A rare work by two titans of design at their peak of creativity and execution.
This "committee" dining, or library table was created in very small numbers and for special and specific installations. With intersecting "horn" leg supports and linked together with lateral support struts, this table is a masterpiece of simplicity and minimalist design. An historic, correct, authentic, and import piece of design history.
Condition is very good and has been sympathetically restored to be useful on a daily basis. The legs are solid teak as are the struts and supporting lateral; beams to hold the table in place. The table top retains its original side rails and the hand painted lettering designation is intact. The table top has seen much use but is beautiful with its rich patina. The top itself has the proper teak veneer which has some scratching and marking. Also some areas are sanded through to the surface below. This can be left as is or can be re-veneered at the buyers request. Overall just a terrific example of an iconic design. East Coast buyers can receive hand delivered shipping. Very useful as the arms are raised from the seating area which allows the sitter to move freely , with legs under, to talk to guests, play with pets, or read in comfort. Professionally reupholstered and restored with the best Hallingdal wool upholstery and with spot on Danish colours for the seat cushions.

A very rare and rather exceptional sofa compact by Charles Eames for Herman Miller.
This example is special for a few reasons.
It is a very early model as evidenced by the centre metal bracket. It is also a folding example. Later pieces were fixed in place.
This sofa also retains the original vintage Alexander Girard "giant stripe" textile. A very rare thing as most were reupholstered of originally upholstered in a basic vinyl or wool . This textile and construction dates the sofa to approx. 1959.
This is most likely the best example of a vintage Sofa Compact available for sale.
