A fine and impressive, pair of antique George VI English sterling silver candlesticks; part of our ornamental silverware collection. These impressive antique 1930s English sterling silver candlesticks have a plain subtly tapering columnar form. The impressive Corinthian capital of each retains the original hallmarked detachable push fit sconce ornamented with embossed bead decoration to the rim. The subtly tapering panelled columns are supported by a circular boss to a square swept foot. The base of each candlestick is embellished with a band of embossed floral rosette and bud garlands, flanked with bead decorated borders. Both candlesticks have weighted bases and are fitted with green baize to the underside. A magnificent, exceptional, fine and impressive, pair of large antique Georgian English sterling silver architectural column candlesticks; part of our ornamental silverware collection. These magnificent antique Georgian English sterling silver candlesticks have a plain subtly tapering columnar form. The large and impressive Corinthian capital of each candlestick retains the original hallmarked detachable push fit sconce ornamented with a plain moulded rim. The cylindrical columns are supported by a cuboid plinth to an impressive plain square stepped three tier base. Each plinth is embellished with a fine and impressive bright cut engraved coat of arms depicting the Head family coat of arms encircled with a belt accented with the family motto 'Study Quiet'. The bases retain the original contemporary engraved inscription 'A token of respect from Francis Head to her aunt Dame Mary Ann Head. 1803' to the lowest tier. Both candlesticks are fitted with turned mahogany bases to the underside. These magnificent Georgian candlesticks were crafted by George Eadon, George Kibbles & John Weaver of George Eadon & Co. The title ‘Dame’ was the traditional style for the wife of a baronet at this time and before although it was interchangeable with the title ‘Lady’. Condition These antique Georgian candlesticks...

An exceptional, fine and impressive pair of antique Victorian English cast sterling silver taper candlesticks; an addition of our ornamental silverware collection These exceptional antique Victorian cast sterling silver taper candlesticks have a plain classical English form. The cylindrical capitals are encircled with bands of tooled decoration and retain the original hallmarked detachable push fit sconces. The waisted section of each column features a plain panelled quatrefoil shaped knop. These Victorian taper candlesticks have quatrefoil shaped stepped bases with central plain sunken wells. Each taper candlestick does not have a weighted base. Condition These solid silver taper candlesticks are an exceptional gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent presentation condition. Full hallmarks struck to the surface of each base and full hallmarks to the sleeve of each sconce are all very clear; the full hallmarks to the base of one candlestick has wear in keeping with age, but remains clear and legible.
