An exceptional, fine and impressive pair of antique Victorian English cast sterling silver taper candlesticks; an addition of our ornamental silverware collection These exceptional antique Victorian cast sterling silver taper candlesticks have a plain classical English form. The cylindrical capitals are encircled with bands of tooled decoration and retain the original hallmarked detachable push fit sconces. The waisted section of each column features a plain panelled quatrefoil shaped knop. These Victorian taper candlesticks have quatrefoil shaped stepped bases with central plain sunken wells. Each taper candlestick does not have a weighted base. Condition These solid silver taper candlesticks are an exceptional gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent presentation condition. Full hallmarks struck to the surface of each base and full hallmarks to the sleeve of each sconce are all very clear; the full hallmarks to the base of one candlestick has wear in keeping with age, but remains clear and legible. This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver vinaigrette has a rectangular shaped form. The upper plateau of the cover is ornamented with a rare scene depicting Westminster Abbey in relief, all on a matte background. The sides of the box and cover are encompassed with a continuous band of engraved leaf ornamentation. The underside of this English silver vinaigrette is ornamented with engine turned ornamentation accented with engraved scrolling leaf decoration, incorporating a central vacant cartouche. Both the base and cover are embellished with cast and applied leaf decorated borders to the rims.
