A magnificent, fine and impressive pair of antique Georgian English sterling silver wine coolers made by Paul Storr; an addition to our antique wine and drink related silverware collection These magnificent antique George III sterling silver wine coolers have a classic campania shaped form onto a plain knopped pedestal and domed circular spreading foot. The surface of the upper portion of each body is plain and embellished with two large applied tied oak leaf wreath cartouches, one side bears the contemporary bright cut engraved coat of arms* depicting a pile engrailed with three cross-crosslet fitchy, all surmounted with the crest displaying a cock's head. The second cartouche on each holder bears the contemporary bright cut engraved presentation inscription 'Given to William Rigden, In Remembrance of William Galdork, by W.H.B'. These silver wine bottle holders each have an applied moulded decorated border to the flared rim. The lower bulbous portion of each wine cooler is encompassed with exceptional chased fluted decoration below an applied ribbed border. Each wine cooler is supported by a domed circular spreading foot embellished with a chased egg decorated border and a plain collet style rim. This exceptional pair of Georgian wine coolers were crafted by the renowned and important London silversmith Paul Storr. * This coat of arms pertains to the Rigden/Rigdon family. A fine antique Georgian English sterling silver ‘madeira’ decanter label / bottle ticket made in Newcastle; an addition to our wine and drinks silverware collection. This fine antique George III sterling silver decanter label/bottle ticket has a subtly convex, plain rectangular rounded cornered form. The body is embellished with a simple tooled decorated border and the engraved name ‘MADEIRA' to the center. The label is suspended by two ring loops to the upper border connected by a silver belcher style chain. This Fine example of Georgian silverware has been crafted by the Newcastle maker John Robertson II but assayed in London; this was an occasional practice with smaller items of Newcastle silver, where no town mark was been struck. An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian sterling silver gilt goblet; an addition to our wine and drinks related silverware collection. This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver gilt goblet has a circular bulbous-shaped form onto a swept pedestal and circular spreading foot. The body of this impressive antique silver goblet is encompassed with a central band of chased and engraved scrolling foliate and floral decoration, incorporating swan and vase ornamentation, all on a matte background. The decoration to the body incorporates an impressive cartouche displaying the contemporary bright cut engraved crest depicting between two arms embowed a sun in splendour. The cylindrical upper rim is encompassed with further scrolling leaf decoration, flanked with an applied dart decorated border to the nadir and a moulded border to the rim. The cast silver waisted pedestal features a spiralling bead design, incorporating scrolling motifs to the upper portion, replicating the details of an architectural column. The circular spreading foot is embellished with impressive cast figural mask designs alternating with layered leaf motifs, all ornamented with further bead decoration. The swept rim of the slightly weighted base is further ornamented with a leaf decorated festoon. This sterling silver goblet retains the original gilding; the gilding to the exterior of the goblet has worn with age in a sympathetic fashion. This exceptional goblet, crafted by the renowned silversmith Frederick Elkington of Elkington & Co, is the finest of its type you could hope to acquire. A magnificent, fine and impressive pair of antique Georgian English sterling silver wine coolers, an addition to our antique wine and drink related silverware collection. These magnificent antique George III sterling silver wine coolers have a Classic Campania shaped form onto a knopped pedestal foot. The lower bulbous portion of each antique wine cooler is embellished with magnificent chased decoration displaying scrolling leaf designs orienting towards the central point. The surface of each body is embellished with the contemporary engraved inscription 'Presented by the Inhabitants of St Helena to Colonel Mark Wilks, late Governor of that Island, in Memorial of their Esteem, Respect & Gratitude, 1816' to one side. The other side of each piece features the contemporary flat engraved coat of arms depicting party per pale, to the Dexter three heraldic roses above a paly of 8, to the sinister a bend charged with three escallops between three lozenge to the chief and base. The aforementioned coat of arms is surmounted with the crest of a wolf rampant collared, all above the bannered motto 'Pro Rege' - For the King. The upper rim of each piece is encircled with a convex band ornamented with exceptional chased evolute spiraling foliate designs accented with floral motifs. Each antique wine cooler is fitted with an exceptional pair of cast handles embellished with scrolling leaf emanating towards a central knop. The impressive sockets of each handle are ornamented with a magnificent cast and applied Bacchanal style bearded mask design.
