Antique Newcastle Sterling Silver Madeira Decanter Label / Bottle Ticket

About the Item

A fine antique Georgian English sterling silver ‘madeira’ decanter label / bottle ticket made in Newcastle; an addition to our wine and drinks silverware collection. This fine antique George III sterling silver decanter label/bottle ticket has a subtly convex, plain rectangular rounded cornered form. The body is embellished with a simple tooled decorated border and the engraved name ‘MADEIRA' to the center. The label is suspended by two ring loops to the upper border connected by a silver belcher style chain. This Fine example of Georgian silverware has been crafted by the Newcastle maker John Robertson II but assayed in London; this was an occasional practice with smaller items of Newcastle silver, where no town mark was been struck. Condition This antique sterling silver decanter label is a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent presentation condition. Full hallmarks struck to the reverse of the ticket are all very clear. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this antique Georgian silverware.
