Georgian Derby Porcelain Serving Dish or Bowl Hand-Painted, Fully Marked Ca 1815
By Derby
Located in Lincoln, Lincolnshire
This is a good oval shaped serving dish or bowl, made by the Derby factory, hand painted and gilded in a free flowing floral pattern, during the reign of George 111 in the early 19th century, circa 1815.
This is a well potted oval shaped dish or bowl with a vertically fluted and moulded side edge and rim, sitting on a low foot.
The piece is beautifully hand decorated in a free flowing manner, in one of Derby's Imari style floral Patterns, with enamels of cobalt blue, burnt orange, pink and yellow, all in varying shades. It has then been hand gilded, with gold detail to some of the flowers, blue leaf, the inner border and the outer rim.
The dish has the early Derby...

History of Epiage , The “OEPIAG” and “EPIAG” marks. Both OEPIAG and EPIAG were associations of different potteries put together by the Austrian Government in 1918 to promote the sale of Bohemian pottery and porcelain. The name “OEPIAG” is an acronym for “Österreichische Porzellan Industrie AG,” which translates to Austrian Porcelain Industry. Any pottery with this mark generally predates 1920, when the name was changed Erste Böhemische Porzellan Industrie AG—First Bohemian Porcelain Industry—and the mark was switched to “EPIAG.”
While several Bohemian potteries were members, the Pirken-Hammer mark you mention was used by one of founding members of the association, Fischer and Mieg...

Georgian Spode Stone China Sauce Tureen in Ship Pattern 3067, circa 1810
By Spode
Located in Lincoln, Lincolnshire
This is a very good sauce tureen made of ironstone (Spode's Stone China) in the Ship Pattern, No 3067, produced by the English, Spode factory early in the 19th century, George 111rd Period.
The piece is well potted with two side handles.
The pattern is called the Ship pattern number 3067, the chinoiserie decoration being transfer printed under-glaze, then very carefully hand-painted in bold colored enamels with additional gold gilding over-glaze. As is usual with Spode ware the standard of hand painted detail is very high.
A plate in this pattern is shown on page 54 of Steven Smith's book; "Spode and Copeland" published by Schiffer. The pattern is in the Chinese taste as produced by many of the English potteries of the time, to compete directly with the large import of Canton or Chinese Export porcelain from China. The piece has a mid brown edge similar to that often seen on Chinese plates.
The piece is fully marked to the base, with the earlier Spode black printed Stone-China mark...
