Antique Georgian Sterling Silver Beer / Water Jug by John King
Located in Jesmond, Newcastle Upon Tyne
An exceptional, fine and impressive antique George III English sterling silver beer/water jug; part of our dining silverware collection This exceptional antique Georgian sterling silver beer jug has a plain baluster form onto a circular spreading foot. The body of this impressive antique silver jug is embellished with an impressive engraved scrolling leaf bodered coat of arms depicting on a fess three five-pinted stars between three griffens' heads erased. This impressive example of Georgian silverware is fitted with a cast sterling silver S scroll handle ornamented with an impressive scrolling leaf thumbpiece and bifurcating lower scrolling terminal. The cast beak style spout of the jug is embellished with a vase-shaped moulding to the nadir. The circular spreading foot is embellished with bands of tooled decoration. Note: The London Assay Office have missing records in the Smallworkers' Register (1739-1758) and Largeworkers' Register (1758-1773), and it can be determined that this maker's mark was registered within this timeframe. However John King became free from his apprenticeship August 1757, and it can be determined there is a high probability that this maker's mark associates to him. Condition This 18th century jug...

Chelsea Porcelain Frill Vase with Birds, Rococo ca 1760
Located in London, GB
This is a charming frill vase made by the Chelsea Porcelain factory in about 1760. The vase is in the Rococo style and it speaks for itself why this style of vase is called a "frill" vase. This vase has undergone restorations (although it still holds water perfectly) and is therefore offered As Found (A/F) at a reduced price. Chelsea was one of the very early adopters of porcelain in the British china industry. Founded in 1744 the Chelsea pottery was for about 40 years the leading maker of fine chinaware, excelling in their sense of style, perfection and constant innovation and inspiring many following generations of china makers. The company was started by French silversmith Nicholas Sprimont and you can see the influence of the French style of silverware...
