A magnificent Mid-Century Modern sterling silver cigarette or cigar box, would equally make a fabulous desk-tidy / cufflink / jewelry box.
Made by the top notch silversmith, Deakin and Francis, still in operation today and established in 1786; created for Garrard, a brief history can be found below.
The box is made from English sterling silver weighing a heavy 482 grams or 15.5 troy ounces. Designed with a very stylish and fashionable bark or honeycomb finish incorporating an undamaged genuine malachite opening.
The interior is lined in cedar wood with a removable divider. For larger cigars, this can be removed and cigars laid horizontally (max 6 1/4" in length).
The silver is fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1969 together with the silversmith's mark for Deakin and Francis. The underside is signed by the famous retailer, Garrard of London.
Excellent condition measuring 6 3/4" x 3 1/2" (plus malachite opener) x 1 7/8".
