Rare Louis Van Boeckel wrought iron floor lamp or Oil Lamp. This magnificently handcrafted Art Nouveau lamp was originally made as an oil lamp. At some point in time oil lamps went out of fashion and that is when this oil lamp was transformed into an electrical lamp. On top you can still see the rimb on which the oil reservoir would have rested. Obviously what makes this work of art so beautiful is the design and the incredible details and the natural shape of the leaves, the flowers etc. This is the work of a true artist and you will enjoy it every time you see and use it. Louis Van Boeckel (1857-1944) of Lier, Belgium, was one of the most important ornamental blacksmiths of his time. He was an apprentice to the Verwilt factory in Lier, but developed most of his skills as an artisan by himself. His work, including some of his important animal depictions, can be found in the Timmermanns-Opsomer-Haus Museum in Lier. Van Boeckel’s numerous awards included the gold medal at the Exposition du Cercle Rubens (1890), le Prix de l’Art appliqué à la rue, Brussels (1893) and the Grande Médaille d’Or and title of Chevalier de l’ordre Royal du Cambodge at the Exposition Universelle in Paris (1900). He is also responsible for work on the grid of the city hall of Lier after 1890, the grave decorations for Czar Alexander III in St. Petersburg and Queen Marie-Henriette in Laeken, the staircases of honor of the Khedive Palace in Cairo and Benedictine monastery on Mount Olive...

Antique hand crafted, stylized sunburst design two light flushmount / fixture. This 1920s two-light flush mount has the most serene look and feel and you will hardly ever find a light fixture from the early 1900s era in this good of a condition. Thanks to its matt white, single color art glass shade combined with the serene looking, single color wrought iron frame this light fixture could not be more timeless. Thanks to the matt glass shade and unlike almost all other midcentury glass flush mounts, this unique specimen does not at all reflect any of the surrounding colors or sources of light in the shade. Mind you, our photos were shot with this flush mount very close to a window and as you can see, the matt glass shade remains pure white in all of our photos, giving this fixture its unique, 'tranquil' look and feel. Combined with the handforged in fire, wrought iron gallery around the glass shade this timeless ceiling light will also work perfectly in a contemporary interior. Unfortunately we don't know who the designer is, but judging from the Arts & Crafts design and the quality materials, we feel, this should be by one of the better known European artisans from that era. From Northern Italy a rare set of six 18th century gilt wrought iron arms, candle holders, hanging lantern brackets suitable as sconces, if you wire them. These iron arms are fully handmade with curved scrolling iron structure, decorated with  elegant gilt wrought iron acanthus leaves and gildwood balls and bobeches.. Good age related condition, the six arms have the same shape and structure but slightly different sizes, with minor losses, missing giltwood balls in four of item. The gilding of the arms is in good condition, excellent feature in case of their use as sconces, overturning the irons compared to their original use.
