Vintage Berber Taznakht Moroccan Rug, Midcentury Meets Tribal Enchantment
By Berber Tribes of Morocco
Located in Dallas, TX
21272 Vintage Red Taznakht Moroccan Rug, 06'06 x 10'05. Taznakht Moroccan rugs are handwoven textiles originating from the Taznakht region in the High Atlas Mountains of Morocco, crafted by Berber women using traditional techniques passed down through generations. These rugs are characterized by vibrant colors derived from natural dyes, intricate tribal designs, and geometric patterns, showcasing the rich heritage of the region. Made from high-quality wool sourced locally, Taznakht rugs exhibit durability, softness, and resilience. Each rug is a unique masterpiece, meticulously crafted with hand-knotted fibers, making them highly valued for their cultural significance, exquisite craftsmanship, and timeless beauty in both decorative and functional settings.
Showcasing a traditional village design with incredible detail and texture, this hand-knotted wool vintage Berber Moroccan rug presents a captivating vision of woven beauty. The abrashed red field serves as the backdrop for a central star flower, while eight-point stars grace each corner. Encircling the field is a geometric tribal border, adding to the rug's historical richness and Ancient Berber symbolism. Traditional symbols of protection and femininity adorn the central area, while the borders along the sides symbolically represent the male presence. This arrangement, typical in Moroccan rugs, frames and encloses the female motifs, suggesting concepts of fertility, protection, and familial sanctuary.
With its rich patterns and unmistakable aspects of traditional Berber culture, this vintage Moroccan rug exudes nostalgic charm, promising to enhance the ambiance of any interior it graces. The intricate detailing and symbolism embedded within the rug's design speak to the heritage and craftsmanship of its creators, reflecting a deep connection to Berber traditions and values. As a testament to the enduring artistry of Berber weaving, this rug offers not only visual appeal but also a glimpse into the cultural narratives and symbolism woven into every fiber.
From the central star flower to the tribal borders, each element of this vintage Taznakht...

1940s Face Veil, Sinai Bedouin Desert Garment Nikab Framed Collectible
Located in North Hollywood, CA
Traditional antique circa 1940s Collectible women face veil from the Sinai Bedouin Desert Garment Nikab framed in a lucite box.
Museum quality well preserved Middle Eastern Bedouin women face veil, from the Bedouin tribes of the Sinai Desert.
Face veil for a Bedouin Women, North Sinai Egypt or Palestine Mid 20th C.
An amazing Niqab, Negev Bedouin veil from Palestine or Egypt.
Worked on a base of thin red silk and cotton embroidery with antique Ottoman nickel silver coins, glass beads, wool, embroidered, stones, carnelians, glass, and amber.
Mid 20th century, circa 1940-50s typical Middle Eastern traditional Arabian Bedouin, Egyptian, Palestinian face mask, garment, head dress, tribal jewelry, bridal veil.
Showing heavily decorated in the bottom with silver nickel hands amulets for the Evil Eye protection and early textiles (wool and silk) and tassels hanging down.
Face coverings were worn for centuries by the women of various nomadic tribal groups of North Africa and the Middle East.
In the western desert of Egypt, Berber women living in Bedouin societies sometimes wear masks or veils called niqab. The veils serve multiple functions, including protecting the women’s face from sun damage, filtering dust from the air, displaying adornment, and demonstrating wealth or status.
The niqab worn by Bedouin women on special occasions are sometimes elaborately decorated with coins and beads, like this one.
Such masks are not for everyday use; they would be too hot and heavy. They are worn during special events, such as weddings and feasts.
Face veil: 12" W x 19" L,
circa 1915-1930.
