Romanza is a sofa that redefines affection design, and combines modern and contemporary design styles with the memory of ancient Moroccan seating. Romanza's frame is the epitome of the finest Italian cabinetry: made with the technique of inlaid solid ash and Canaletto walnut wood, and the arms are made of thermoformed solid ash and shaped completely by hand. Buttons are made of inlaid wood ash and canaletto walnut. Upholstered items are made of non-deformable polyurethane foam in different densities available for both indoor and outdoor environments. This sculptural 3-legged contemporary armchair is comfortable because the high arms ergonomically support the body above a 14-high seat. First made by the designer in Laredo, Texas studio in 1994, they are now made to order in Guadalajara, Mexico as signed editions. These chairs are made from Rosa Morada wood and finished with several coats of matte lacquer and wax. The finish will withstand covered outdoor conditions, avoiding direct sunlight and water. Rosa Morada trees grow from central Mexico down through tropical Central America and are sustainably harvested by permit and then kiln dried to 10%. Originally created to pair with our Himes Table, the Himes Bench explores the principals of tension and compression. Each of the six parts that make up this piece fit into one and other and are held together using these forces of strength and stability. This bench features a through tenon connection between its legs and top creating a stunning contrast in grain and a clean design detail. Additionally a subtle angled cut adds interest to and comfort to the bench seat. Customized lengths available. We work with North American solid hardwoods on a made-to-order fabrication basis.
