About the Item

The Kris side table, created in 1988 by Elizabeth Garouste and Mattia Bonetti, perfectly embodies their whimsical and narrative universe, where furniture becomes a small poetic architecture. Inspired by the sinuous silhouette of the Malay ritual dagger, the kris, it echoes its undulating lines, translated here into a sculptural base in patinated metal. The tabletop, simple and elegant, contrasts with this almost animated base, giving the piece an air that is both precious and subtly mysterious. True to their aesthetic, somewhere between fairytale and surrealism, Garouste and Bonetti play with the ambiguity between function and fiction: this table is not merely a utilitarian object but a piece that seems to carry a story, as if it emerged from an imaginary setting where every detail holds symbolic meaning.
