French Chestnut and Oak Desk from Le Grand Monarque À Chartres, circa 1720
French Chestnut and Oak Desk from Le Grand Monarque À Chartres, circa 1720

French Chestnut and Oak Desk from Le Grand Monarque À Chartres, circa 1720

Located in Dallas, TX

Hand-carved, circa 1720, using chestnut and oak woods, this desk was recently part of Le Grand Monarque hotel in Chartres, France. The desk has been stripped at some point, allowing the beautiful wood grain and round dowel construction to become focal points. The stunning desk has a shaped top with quarter round molding. A 23 ½” W seat opening is topped by a concave front drawer with a bronze drop handle affixed by a pair of rosette mounts. Similar handles can be seen on each of the four main drawers, which are surrounded by thick cavetto molding. These drawers also have a scalloped keyplate and mounts of two putti hunting dragons hidden amongst foliage. Interestingly, the sides are comprised of four rectangular panels, with the two nearest to the straight back side being functional drawers. Known as a bureau caissiers (“cashier’s desk...

Italian Regency Hand Carved Maple Pier Console or Dressing Table with Mirror

By Gabriele Capello, Filippo Pelagio Palagi

Located in Firenze, IT

This Italian Regency period pier console or dressing table with swivel mirror and marble top is made of solid and burl maple wood and it's a one of a kind piece that expresses the joint result of Italian high end cabinet-making and design mastery with its elaborate carvings with fancy animalier patterns in the form of swans and dolphins and penwork drawings throughout. Sourced in a private estate of an important Italian collector in Turin, Pendimont, this museum quality piece of furniture was probably made on commission and recalls the works of Gabriele Capello known as “il Moncalvo” on Pelagio Palagi...

Louis Card Tables from our Louise Collection. The renowned designer Paul Mathieu chose the name “Louise” when he created his more feminine version of Louis XV (1730-1760) furniture. The characteristic cabriole leg, curving outward at the knee and inward towards the foot in an "S" shape was born during this period. It is during the same era that English furniture makers produced the Queen Anne and Chippendale styles. Crafted with utmost care and attention to detail, these Louis Card Tables are made to order and are available in twelve metal clad finishes, ensuring that you can choose the perfect one to match your individual style and taste. The use of high-quality materials and expert craftsmanship ensure that each Art Deco Louis Card Tables is not only beautiful but also a true piece of art. The curved legs and side arms of this Art Deco Louis Card Tables are hand carved from solid pieces of teak. Pattern makers trace and cut complex forms that will cover the chair in a skin of copper, white bronze, brass or antiqued white bronze The metal finishes will tarnish over time. Regular non-abrasive household metal polishes can be used to restore the original luster. Overall, if you're looking for a piece of furniture that combines luxury, comfort, and style, then the Art Deco Card Tables is an excellent choice. With its distinctive curved profile and multiple finish options, this Chair set is sure to elevate the look of any room it is placed in, and be a beloved addition to your home for years to come.
