A late Georgian diamond-set aigrette brooch, in the form of a diamond-set spray with two diamond-set flowers and a diamond-set bow, the knot of the set with an old mine-cut diamond estimated to weigh 0.7 carats, the small old mine-cut diamonds estimated to weigh a further total of 9 carats, all grain and cut-down set in silver to yellow gold back, with later gold brooch fitting, circa 1810, measuring 6.5 x 3.5cm, gross weight 15.9 grams. Fantastic Oversized antique French brooch. A very nice early French piece, created during the Georgian period, around the 1810's. Carefully crafted in solid .830/1000 sterling silver and suited at the reverse, with a hinged horizontal pin with a hook lock. Is embellished, with a mix of larger quartz gems cuts and small simulated gemstones in paste. Excellent workmanship with black dots and prong set on top of the silver with open backs. Paste, is a gem like material made from a secret formula of leaded glass invented by George Ravenscroft, a 17th century London glassmaker and later perfected by George Strass, an 18th century French jeweler, designed to resemble precious gemstones. This piece is pretty heavy and large with a total weight of 87.4 grams and a measures of 90 mm by 83 mm (3.52 by 3.28 inches). Stamped, with multiples French hallmarks; three times with the maker's maitre cartouche and three times with the boar head, for the assay and guaranty of the .830 silver. A stunning, fine and impressive vintage 1.83 carat Burmese ruby and 18 karat yellow gold floral brooch; part of our diverse vintage jewelry and estate jewelry collections. This stunning, fine and impressive 1990s vintage brooch has been crafted in 18k yellow gold. The brooch has been modelled in the form of a stemmed flower. The centre of the flower is represented by a circular domed design, embellished with nineteen stunning claw set round faceted cut Burmese rubies. The domed centre is encircled by six yellow gold petals and a stem, embellished with matte textured decoration replicating the veins and organic details. The vintage brooch secures to the reverse with a hallmarked hinged pin and fastening. The impressive 1990s vintage ruby brooch is hallmarked to the reverse with the marks for 18k gold (18, .750), the maker's mark (RHB), the Birmingham Assay Office import mark (triangle) and the import date mark for 1990 (Q).
