Antique Georgian Rose Cut Diamond Earrings in Silver-Topped 14k Gold, Dutch
Located in Orlando, FL
Dutch Georgian-Era Silver-Topped 14K Gold Diamond Earrings – Rose Cut Pears An exceptional pair of authentic Georgian-era diamond earrings, crafted in the traditional silver-topped 14K gold construction that defines late 18th to early 19th century diamond jewelry. These earrings embody the restrained elegance and hand-crafted refinement for which the Georgian period is so highly prized. Specifications Period: Georgian era, circa late 1700s–early 1800s Metal: Silver-topped 14K yellow gold Total Weight: 8.7 grams Dimensions: Approximately 1.50" long x 5/8" wide Diamonds: Natural rose-cut diamonds Center Stones: Pear-shaped rose cuts, approx. 6.7mm x 4.85mm, approx. 0.70ct each Total Diamond Weight: Approximately 1.65 carats total Construction: Closed-back settings with silver tops Findings: Turn of the century replacement 14k gold lever back clips ons with base metal solder used (typical of the period) Imported from Amsterdam. Likely Dutch origin. Craftsmanship & Historical Context Silver-topped gold construction was the preferred method for setting diamonds during the Georgian era, allowing the silver to enhance diamond brightness under candlelight while the gold provided structural strength. The rose-cut diamonds—faceted with a flat base and gently domed crown—reflect light in a soft, romantic glow characteristic of the period. The pear-shaped center diamonds are beautifully proportioned and hand-set, framed within delicately worked silver settings that display the subtle irregularities and artistry expected of true Georgian workmanship. Condition The earrings remain in very good antique condition. Overall wear is consistent with age and appropriate for a piece of this era. Backing were changed to clip-on likely around the turn of the century. Base metal solder appears to have been used for the newer backings. A rare and refined example of Georgian diamond jewelry...

Antique Carved Coral Sciacca, Gold, and Diamond Cherub Brooch
Located in Chesterland, OH
We present a true work of art to your attention - a rare and unique brooch carved from a single Italian Mediterranean coral Sciacca. This antique brooch, made in the form of a putto - a little boy angel with a diamond necklace, is imbued with the spirit of the times and the sophistication of the Renaissance when images of cherubs in the form of winged babies were especially popular. Exquisite hand carving amazes with its high detail and craftsmanship. Every element—from the soft features of the angel's face to the finest lines of the wings—conveys the magnificence of the master's work. The brooch is fixed on 14K gold, which gives it strength despite a crack in the wing and small damage in the area of the necklace, which is quite acceptable for such a venerable age and does not spoil this work of art in any way. This angel once soared in the heavens, but time has left its mark on his delicate wing. Perhaps this crack is a silent witness to the trials he has endured, making him not just a piece of jewelry, but a symbol of resilience and timeless beauty. There is a unique charm in this imperfection—a story that transforms him into something greater than just an adornment. The history of this jewelry is shrouded in mystery. Perhaps this cherub was created in the 18th century, or its history goes even further into the depths of the centuries. The 14K gold clasp was probably added in the 20th century, giving the brooch extra security and preserving it for future generations. This is not just a piece of jewelry; it is a unique artifact with a soul that takes you back to the past, preserving a piece of history and craftsmanship from long-gone eras. Description: Carved coral cherub...

Sometimes these earrings are referred as Catalan as they were mainly made in the region at the late 18 cent. Spanish jewellery benefited from the Colombian emerald mines abundant supply by the end of the 18 century. During the eighteenth century, Spain controlled the gold and emerald mines of Colombia and Peru. This wealth of resources resulted in exquisitely fine gem-set gold jewelry. Parures of emeralds, necklaces, stomachers, rings, earrings, etc. were plentiful at the court of Spain. A long gold earring...

Antique Amuletic 12RockCrystals CagedRing MedievalStyle Gilt Bronze Pendant
Located in Chicago, IL
This antique amuletic bronze framed pendant cages a dozen 7mm-diameter single-cut rock crystals that each feature a table-cut decagon crown, deep pavilion, 21 facets and uncut girdle, while the culets range from off-center to blunted. They are tightly set within four linked rings to overlap at the same angle in a sparkling single row. Seeming to retain a little of its original yellow-gold gilding on just the interior, the frame that surrounds each of the four sections of three crystals enables them to reflect pale-yellow-and-lime light when the pendant is viewed from certain angles. Each crystal can be manually rotated. Suggesting French heritage, the Medieval Frankish culture in northern France made jewelry in similar segmented or openwork shapes of wheels or whorls, which were worn as gem-decorated disk-shaped brooches or gold-caged rock...

C1680 Stuart Period Paste Cluster Ring with Center Almandine Garnet
Located in Baltimore, MD
Unusual English Stuart period paste cluster ring with 8 rose cut pastes set in silver and backed in 18K with a gold bordered almandine garnet stone at center. Rings with paste stones in combination with real stones are unusual. The rose cut pastes on this ring are meticulously hand carved and the ring has significant hand gold work throughout. There is a painted black Florentine enamel design at the shoulders and the band is 18K. The goldsmith etched 3 flourishes into the gold band where the enamel painting ends on each side. The back of the ring is carved into a 6 leaved gold flower and raised about 3-4 mmm to give it depth. The ring back is as spectacular as the front. Such artistry could only be accomplished through the hand-work of an early goldsmith. The origin of paste is credited to 2 infamous Georges, the first being George Ravenscroft, an English glassmaker who in the 16th century invented a composition of leaded glass that resembled rock crystal. This composition of glass and lead and other mysterious ingredients were further developed and popularized by a Parisian jeweler, George Straus who is widely credited with popularizing paste jewelry...
