Spanish Colonial antique dangle Iberian earrings.
Exceptionally rare antique pair created in Spain during the Spanish Colonial period, circa 1785. We are sure these dangle drop earrings were made in the Spanish Colombia and most probably in the city of Cartagena de Indias, back in the late 18th century. They was carefully crafted in solid yellow gold of 17 karats and parts in silver. These earrings are convertible for day and night, since the drop parts can be detached to wear the upper parts alone. The chandelier earrings have several moving links and are of a long length, which makes them rare and give them a very stunning look when worn. They are fitted with reverse lever wires and embellished with a nice selection of natural diamonds and emeralds, from Colombia.
It should be noted that the diamonds and emeralds mount in this rare piece are definitely of Colombian origin. Seeing a piece from this period with this quality is very rare and difficult. Usually these pieces with that kind of precious stones were disassembled during the later Victorian period to create new pieces. This is a great collectible piece of great rarity, with an excellent craftsmanship and surely a collector's item.
Diamonds: Mounted in custom prongs settings, with 4 old lasque-cut diamonds, 0.42 carats.
Emeralds: Mount in boxes, with 10 natural Colombian Green emeralds of different shapes and cuts with a combined weight of about 2.80 carats.
Birthstone: Diamonds for the month of December, Emeralds for May.
Weight: 31.70 Grams, (20.32 Dwt).
Measurements: Drop of 75 mm and a width of 21 mm with a deep of 10 mm 14 mm (2.95 x 0.83 x 0.39 Inches).
Hallmarks: Electronically tested for .707/.999 equivalent to 17 karats gold and .850/.999 silver. Stamped with the maker's mark cartouche.

Museum Quality antique late 18th / early 19th century chrysolite chrysoberyl pendant drop earrings in silver and rose gold, probably Portugal, circa 1800. Of elongated and slightly exaggerated outline typical of the period, this design complimented the high hairstyles of the 18th century and would be the perfect jewel for a special event nowadays. Each earring of an openwork design with a navette-shape cluster top suspending a partially-articulated drop-shaped section with floral and foliate motifs and rose gold beading, set throughout with circular, marquise, cushion and calibre cut chrysoberyl stones close-set in silver. These jewels are secured to the top with a lever-back fitting, consistent with the period.

A magnificent example of history, these long beautifully granulated chandelier earrings are set with amethysts from early c. 1790 and were made in the United Kingdom. They are light on the ear and completely original other than the shepherd hooks which are easier to insert rather than the back to front hooks.. Antique earrings are dear and rare to find in original condition, as many have lost the top section. These earrings superb quality, decorated with tiny orbs of gold ( granulation) applied on the long stem part. Father time knows how granulation adhered without glue or solder. The top and lowest section are engraved in repousse, the method of engraving where the gold sheet is pushed out into a design from the back creating volume and dimension. Floral designs cover the bottom inch of the earrings.
The magical secret of Pinchbeck is that no expertise was spared in its creation, rather it took a master of alchemy and ingenuity to create the gold metal formula. Pinchbeck was that alchemist. He was a British Watchmaker. He concentrated on making the first fine gold metal that was not actually gold but became as valuable. The earrings are long length drop earrings, crafted in sterling silver and 9k gold, the two main sections are designed in a floral giardinetti design set with old flat rose cut diamonds, the earrings suspended from 9k gold ear wires.
There are two main floral drops and each of these is intercepted with tiny little silver articulated drops which add movement and shimmer.

Museum quality antique 18th century chrysolite chrysoberyl pendeloque pendant earrings, Portugal, circa 1770. Each earring of an openwork design with a navette shape cluster top suspending a ribbon-tied bow terminal from which hangs an elongated drop-shaped cluster, pave- and collet-set throughout with circular, marquise, cushion and calibre cut yellowish-green chrysoberyl stones close-set in silver. These earrings are secured to reverse with a lever-back fitting consistent with Portuguese jewels of this period.
Later Porto assay mark “old man’s head” (used 1884-1984) for antique artefacts. Dimensions: 7.9 x 2.6 cm. Gross weight: 37.26g.
