GIA Certified Georgian Ruby Cabochon (Untreated, Unheated) & Diamond Earrings 18th/19th Century
Set with two purplish red cabochon pear shape Rubies (Natural Corundum), No indications of heating bezel set in a pair silver and yellow 18 Karat Gold (tested) earrings, and decorated with numerous near-colorless cushion and round diamonds.
Origin Burma (Myanmar). Measures: 13.16X8.80X6.50mm (approx. 8.13ct); 12.90X8.68X6.40mm ( approx. 7.74ct). Total rubies weight 15, 87ct both earrings.
Decorated by 30 cushion and round diamonds and suspended from three round cut diamonds added later in time. Diamonds weighing a total of approximately 2.50 carats
G-H color, VS2-SI1 clarity..
Total weight 13.25 grams.

- Condition:Replacements made: The rubies were probably back foiled, which was common in Georgian-period jewellery, and this must have been removed later to check if the stones were natural. Additions or alterations made to the original: Later the three brilliant-cut diamonds and the gold clasp were added to turn them into today´s earrings, as they must have originally belonged to a larger piece of jewellery such as a brooch. Wear consistent with age and use.
