Georgian Diamond Silver and 18 Karat Gold Day and Night Drop Earrings
About the Item
A gorgeous pair of antique Georgian day and night drop earrings with rose cut diamonds set in 18K yellow gold, and sterling silver!
Dating to the late 1700's - early 1800's, this lovely pair of handmade Georgian earrings features a total of around 42 foil-backed, rose cut diamonds ranging from 3.9 mm to 1.2mm diameter, with roughly 1 to 1.5 TCW of diamonds.
Below and surrounding these diamonds swings a long and intricate diamond-studded network of leaves, branches, and flowers. The diamonds in this botanical-themed drop sparkle and twinkle as the drop swings. Rising from the center of each drop is a larger diamond, one measuring 3.9mm and the other 3.4mm diameter.
The front of the earrings acid test as sterling silver which is patinated with a rich, dark patina. Each diamond is surrounded by lovely little "petals" of bright silver from the crimping of the bezel around each diamond. The earrings are close backed in 18k yellow gold (acid tested). Their yellow gold ear hooks are likely replacements in a later time.
Rose-cut, foil-backed diamonds were designed to sparkle and twinkle in sunlight or candlelight.
