About the Item

A rectangular Fabergé cut glass & silver tray, silver circular laurel wreath and bow handles, fluted silver rim with a cross relief on either side, cut glass tray, overall measurements 13 x 13 x 3 cm, bearing the sponsor marks for Faberge, Moscow 1899-1908, gross weight 451 grams.. A fine and detailed rectangular cut glass and silver tray by Fabergé. Fabergé was established in St Petersburg in 1842, and by the late nineteenth century, was Russia’s largest and best-known jewellery house. The house has become known for their royal commissions and their close ties to the family of Tsar Nicholas II. This tray is made from intricate cut glass that with wonderful neoclassical-inspired laurel wreath handles and a rim made from thick silver. This exquisite piece comes from the Fabergé collection of Bentley & Skinner, the London jewellers by appointment to both Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales and is a wonderful example of early twentieth century Fabergé craftsmanship.
