Antique Persian Mahal rug with Ivory, Pink, All-Over Pattern, hand knotted wool
Located in Birmingham, AL
8’7 x 12’8 Circa 1910-1920s. Mahal weavers we’re so creative! These are some of my favorite rugs because they are incredibly well made and so artistic. Have you ever seen a piece like this?? Excellent condition! The ivory field is very rare for these pieces. One end is finished with traditional fringe and the other has a small flatweave finish. This is woven from the leftover warp and weft on the loom. I find this finish to feel organic and is such a nice textural change from the exactness of the wool pile. The fact that this small flatweave end is so well preserved tells us that this rug has been well cared for and well preserved for all of its long life. The Oriental carpets from Mahal were a product of the cottage industry in and around this Northwest Persian village, and were often produced on the family level. Therefore, they use the loose to moderate weave, and somewhat thicker pile, similar to nomadic and tribal rugs. Nevertheless, they have now taken an equal seat beside the highly reputed and more finely knotted Ferahan and Mahajiran Sarouk...

Live Edge Round Side Table, Modern Organic Blue Sputnik Table
By Alabama Sawyer
Located in Birmingham, AL
This live edge round side Table is an occasional table, a coffee table, or a side table. We call it the Sputnik table. It is certainly irregular and that’s why you’ll love it. The three metal legs attached to live edge piece timber evoke the futuristic styles of the 1950s, perfect for adding a pop of vintage / retro style along with modern, organic warmth. Place this whimsical wooden table in your living room and enjoy it as an organic modern coffee table or use multiples for end tables. They make great bedside tables or a unique element in a bathroom. The naturally occurring knots and fine cracks that you may see will not cause structural deficiencies as they are an organic aspect of the hardwood. We view these elements not as flaws, but as reminders of the tree from which each piece is born. Ships in a box with feet...

Vintage Persian Malayer Rug with an All Over Pattern and Black Wool Border
Located in Birmingham, AL
7’3 x 10’4 The rich black wool on the border of this stunning Malayer is such a rare find! I love the portion of abrash that appears through the center of the rug. Abrash is the subtle color change you notice in the wool. This is due to small batch plant, vegetable, floral (and even insect!) dyes being dyed in small batches and varying a bit one to the next. This rug is in excellent vintage condition, low even pile.

Dissolving the Outer Skin, Hand Printed Work, Woodcut

Located in Yardley, PA
I like to stretch dimensions for my figures that I transfer into a woodcut. There are two motivations: to show a situation that it is still there as an idea a feeling of secure detection. To show it in a way that it hardly can be defined in terms of situational action and physical appearance. In this sense my figures have much in common with a classical still life a natura morte...
