Ramp Figure, Bronze Sculpture, Black color by Modern Indian Artist "In Stock"

Ramp Figure, Bronze Sculpture, Black color by Modern Indian Artist "In Stock"

By K.S. Radhakrishnan

Located in Kolkata, West Bengal

K.S. Radhakrishnan - Ramp Figure Bronze Sculpture H 13 x W 10 x D 6 inches K.S. Radhakrishnan working with Musui & Maiya, Musui potraits has a hand Rickshaw puller as is still prevalent in few parts of Bengal. The bronze figures are elfin, mischievous, airy, acrobatic, and archaic, delicately balancing on one hand or leg. He renders a sensuous quality to his works by deploying extraordinary body movements of his figures. Radhakrishnan is a distinctive and appealing presence on the modern Indian sculpture scene. He says: “For me bronze works best because it is strong, and brings out the character of my sculptures. Although it takes time, the process also becomes a part of my art form.” Style : K.S Radhakrishnan is one of the most notable among the new generation of sculptors. Like many of his contempories he is a figurative sculptor, but his preference for modelling and bronze casting sets him apart from the rest of them. Recharging age old sculptural processes with a new sensibility, thus is the singular challenge he brings to modern Indian sculpture. And this makes him a modernist - who approaches his work with discernible ambition and considerable aplomb while steering clear of brinkmanship. Radhakrishnan's works often drawn from the emotions and myths of the Hindu gods, such as Shiva, Kali and Radha. His sculptures are often larger than life-sized; placed in the outdoors, they evoke a superhuman atmosphere. Over the years, Radhakrishnan has experienced with alternate sculpting mediums, working in molten bronze, beeswax and Plaster of Paris. The physical process of working with the materials becomes a performance in itself. The sculpture is the product of a tactile engagement with his medium. With celebration of sensuality as one of its running themes, his works is at once both intimate and universal in its appeal. A personal commemorative sculpture, with a scale and presence that holds well in natural settings, his work has found permanent home in a number of public collections all over the world. About the Artist and his work : Born : Born 1956, Kerala. Education : 1979 : B.F.A. in Sculpture, Viswa Bharati University, Santiniketan, West Bengal 1981 : M.F.A. in Sculpture, Viswa Bharati University, Santiniketan, West Bengal. Saikat Patra - Untitled - 15 x 11 inches (unframed size) Watercolour on paper Style : Saikat Patra highly talented water colorist from Bengal. In this series of 10 water colour, Saikat traces few game changing moments in India. From invasion / war to coronation, from spirituality to education Saikat beautifully traces few important moments from Historical India. In order of the series of the events : a) Buddha with Angulimalla : ( 600 – 400 BC ) When Buddha's teaching resonated with the people and the ruthless serial killer redeemed and converted himself to follow the principle of Buddhism. b) Ashoka surveying the Sarnath Pillar : (400 – 200 BC) The Mauryan empire reached the peak of its extent under the rule of Ashoka(reign : 273-232 BCE).Here King Ashoka is scene looking at the Lion Capital of Ashoka, a sculpture of four Asiatic Lions; a graphic representation of which was adopted as the official Emblem of India in 1950. c) Questions of Milinda : (200 – 100 BC) Depicts the Questions of Milinda, a Buddhist text which record a dialogue Buddhist Sage Nagasena and the Indo - Greek King Menander who is set to have converted after meeting Sage Nagasina. d) The Kushan Kings encouraged all religions : One of the most interesting aspects of the Kushan empire is its spirit religious toleration. A broad pantheon of dieties on Kushan coins indicates that the empire was characterized by tremendous religious toleration. We find on Kushan coins, Greek Gods such as Helios and Salene, Iranian gods such as Nana, Mithra , Mao and Athsho, Hindu gods such as Shiva and Kartikeya, the Zoroastrian deity Ahura Mazda and the Buddha. The drawings shown above are also powerful evidence of the syncretic nature of many of the deities which were worshipped from different traditions. e) Gupta Empire : India’s Golden Age Kalidasa : ( 5th century AD ) Poet and playwright Vatsyayana : ( 3rd - 6th century AD) Author of the Kama Sutra Aryabhata : ( 5th century AD ) Mathematician, astronomer The peace and prosperity created under the leadership of the Guptas enabled the pursuit of scientific and artistic endeavours. This period was marked by extensive inventions and discoveries in science & technology, engineering, art, literature, mathematics, astronomy, religion, and philosophy that crystallized the elements of what is known as the Golden Age of India. f) Shiva as a dancing Nataraja, Badami : ( 600 – 750 AD ) The period of Badami Chalukyas the first cave portrays the Tandava-dancing Shiva...

Amit Kalla - Untitled - 24 x 24 inches (unframed size) Acrylic on Canvas ** Free Shipment ...... will be delivered in rolled form. Style : Kalla’s work can be represented by his commitment to experimenting with social engagement through the arts. It is here his strength lies. Through his deep connection to a cultural expression of a universal spirituality and passionate sense of humanity Kalla, continuously draws people from all communities into acts of creativity in the belief that through creativity people are empowered and communities move incrementally closer to truth. His poetry and paintings are spiritually intuited. While his poems create a secretive world of words, where silence speaks his paintings are calligraphic and draw on the same silent unknowing of invented texts. His paintings represent moments on the continuum; a slice snatched from his deeper hidden journey. The strength of Kalla’s work is that it represents an Indian artist’s quest for an indigenous tenor rather than a superficial inventory of native motifs, there is nothing about his work which relies on a static Indian Identity. About the Artist & his work : Born : 1980 in Jaipur, Rajasthan. Education : 2005 - Masters in Art and Aesthetics from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi 2003 - Graduation in Art History, National Museum Institute specializing in ancient Indian art...

Swimming Pool Fun, Acrylic on Canvas, Red, Blue, by Indian Artist "In Stock"

Swimming Pool Fun, Acrylic on Canvas, Red, Blue, by Indian Artist "In Stock"

By Farhad Hussain

Located in Kolkata, West Bengal

Farhad Hussain - Swimming Pool Fun - 15 x 15 inches (unframed size) Acrylic on Canvas, 2020 Inclusive of shipment in roll form. Style: Farhad Hussain's colourful work that includes drawings and watercolours besides paintings on canvas, features day to day visual experiences of middle-class urban India. He endows his narrative with iconography and personality through his figuration, their posturing, dress and the surrounding imagery. The drama of subtle complexities of human relationships and social environment are grounded with a sense of satire mixed with pathos. Farhad’s colours help enhance the brightness and aura of his paintings while he also partakes elements from traditions such as the formulaic textile patterns of Indian miniatures. His compositions are often set in a familiar drawing room or a social space, playing out with humour and sarcasm, the narrative psychologies of human life and encounters at various levels. This young artist who has also experimented with sculpture has already carved a niche and an instantly recognizable individualistic style befitting his aesthetics and concerns. Farhad has chosen to use tempera on cloth for his works, the media allowing him to achieve the desired vibrancy of colours. A slow build-up of images and spontaneous flow of colour while balancing colour and composition simultaneously follow structured formatting. This meticulous planning in the composition and layout is the beginning of a process from where onwards it is very spontaneous and intuitive. Another technique used throughout Farhad’s work is the method of applying the colour: dot-by-dot till the entire area is completely covered. Various elements from miniature paintings, Kalighat paintings, Japanese prints and images from mass media are scrutinized, transformed and transferred on to the surface through the artists own style of expression. About the Artist and his works : Born: 1975 in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand. Education : 2003: B.F.A. in painting from Kala Bhavan, Visva Bharati University, Shantiniketan, 2005: M.F.A. in painting from M.S. University, Baroda. Untitled, Figurative, Ink, Brush, Dry Pastel on Paper Jogen Chowdhury "In Stock"

By Jogen Chowdhury

Located in Kolkata, West Bengal

Jogen Chowdhury - Untitled, 14 x 11 inches ( Unframed Size ) Ink with Brush & Dry Pastel on Paper, 2014 Style : He has immense contribution in inspiring young artists of India. Jogen Chowdhury had developed his individual style after his return from Paris. Jogen Chowdhury has been widely acknowledged to be, the master of the unbroken line. Like Léger, Chowdhury has been stirred by the linear Kalighat pat tradition, but his lines are emotive and used to express and suggest the character of a person. This is done by, distorting the form without breaking the line and in the world of young, contemporary art; distortion has been Jogen Chowdhury’s most significant impact. Perhaps, because of this, a common observation of his work is that his “people” are caricatures. The person feels familiar to the viewer but it is far more individualised - the face is imaginary but the psyche or characteristics are real. The power and beauty of his technique and line is this play between the known and unknown. In Jogen Chowdhury’s work, the figure is always in the foreground, it is primary, it conveys everything.
