In "With Many a Sunlit Arrow," color, line, shape, and texture collide on Kozuke ivory paper crafted from the fibers of the kozo plant. This one-of-a-kind, encaustic monotype illuminates a poetic interior landscape. The softness of the washi paper juxtaposed with the lush, textured encaustic/mixed media bring a sense of fragility and lightness to the artwork.

Jackson is currently the Chairman of the Art Department at University of Memphis in Tennessee and is the author of the book “Art: A Comparative Study.” Jackson’s paintings are modern mythological allegories, rich with subtle innuendos, political dissent, and emotional ambiguity. Gleaning inspiration from fashion magazines, movies, the literary world, and a plethora of other twentieth century cultural sources, Jackson incorporates these images and ideas with a keen sense of color to create paintings that are simultaneously rich in content and aesthetically dynamic.
