A rare and highly important set of four Royal sterling silver Georgian, pillow shaped lidded entree serving dishes, by Andrew Fogelberg and Stephen Gilbert, London, 1792. Engraved with the Order of the Garter. The Order of the Garter is the highest British order of chivalry, limited to the Monarch (Sovereign of the Garter), the Prince of Wales, and 24 Knights. The dishes are engraved both on the lids and the inside with the royal badge with a coronet engraved with the legend in Latin; "Honi Soit Que Mal Y Pense" (Shamed to be the one who thinks evil of it). The pillow shaped dishes below lids with oval ribbed and acanthus leaf decorated handles, the edges of the bases having gadrooned borders. The lids and bases are fully hallmarked with the date letter for 1792, the panther's head for London and the maker's marks for Andrew Fogelberg and Stephen Gilbert. This highly important set of four serving dishes are in excellent condition, they came from a royal household and a ready to grace your table or treasured silver display case...

Antique 18th Century Spanish Colonial South American retablo, features Saint Camillus De Lellis (San Camilo), Patron Saint of The Sick, Peru, Cusco, circa 1760. This devotional retablo is sensitively painted on copper and housed in a gilt-wood frame. The painting depicts a scene of a recumbent figure, presumably Christ, attended by Saint Camillus De Lellis. A remarkable almost 400 year old Spanish table, the table is carved on all sides so it is able to float in a room, the substantial top having an overhang at each side. To the front are two large drawers that are deeply carved with diamond lozenges and fitted with the original hand-forged iron pulls. The table is carved on all the other sides with corresponding diamond lozenge carved designs. The table is raised on spiral turned baluster shaped legs and joined with a stretcher at each side, the table is raised on compressed circular bun feet. The bookcase in two sections; the top section with a flared cornice with a frieze of dentil molding below, the bookcase with twin glazed doors with intersecting curvilenear astragals, the doors enclosing a pair of adjustable shelves. The base having a deep drawer with a locking fall front desk, fitted with a tooled & gilded leather writing surface, and a fitted interior with pigeonholes with removable doors and drawers each fitted with an oval gilded name label. Below are a pair of locking doors enclosing an elaborately fitted interior; comprising one long shallow tray shaped drawer above a host of 13 drawers of various sizes, all with the original brass hardware and corresponding oval gilded name tag, to the left side is a file space. The plate is decorated with typical stylized tulips, carnations and Ottoman Saz leaves & blossoms. Iznik & Kutahya are towns in Turkey with an illustrious history of hundreds of years of fine pottery making, this type of pottery is characterized by it's fritware body often containing a high percentage of ground glass & fired at lower temperatures, a type of tin glazed earthenware, which was an attempt to imitate the high-fired glazes of Chinese porcelain. This plate dates to the middle of the 1700s by around 1800 the production of such pottery has ceased.
