"Over a decade ago, before this Fatburger location in Sherman Oaks was renovated, I was admiring the evening neon light bouncing off of these chrome stools. I had even started to paint the entire parking lot full of cars across the street, but decided that the mood of the piece would be enhanced if I changed it to a seaside location, making this piece more of a fiction. Story often draws me into a painting, and I felt the exaggerated aloneness was more connected to the feelings of inspiration I found in this place."

Night Burger by Tony Peters is a breathtaking oil on canvas painting that captures a considered and tranquil atmosphere with striking detail. “My painting, Mother and Child, is a depiction of my daughter and I, inspired by whimsical themes we both enjoy. Studying Pre-Raphaelite paintings, Mother and Child evokes rich Roman Catholic iconography. Poland has this imagery everywhere, as it is home to Our Lady of Czensztochowa. As I am Polish, I draw heavy affection for this imagery. While creating this work I kept this Agatha Christie
quote in mind:
‘A mother’s love for her child is like nothing
else in the world, it knows no law, no pity, it
dares all things and crushes down remorselessly
all that stands in its path.’
In this painting I’ve chosen to portray us outdoors in a dreamlike setting, using vivid colors, lighting and environment. I’ve applied gold and pearlescent paint in the foundation layers which peek through at times. In choosing a pose—her hands touching my face, I hope the viewer sees the love and bond that we share.”
