What is a gueridon?

1 Answer
What is a gueridon?
A gueridon is a small table. Gueridons were originally designed in 17th-century France to hold candlesticks and other decorative objects. They're typically round tables that are supported by ornate legs, columns or carved figures.

Tables might not be the first thing that comes to mind when you consider ways to revamp your home. But the right table can serve as an elegant centerpiece in your dining room, a supportive wingman for your reading chair or the perfect solution to filling the blank space behind your sofa.

mid-century modern gueridon could find a home as a console table in a foyer as a receptacle for house keys and personal items when you come home, while an Art Deco gueridon could be a focal point in a handsome library or a study. Elsewhere in your space, French Empire-style gueridons or Greco-Roman-inspired tables can be used as end tables for holding beverages in a living room or boudoir tables to place favorite books or a table lamp.

Antique and vintage gueridons add beautiful form as well as function to any room — the possibilities of these versatile pieces are endless.
