Ebb and Flow - Vertical Blur, LED Enabled Wall Art, 2021
Located in Boston, MA
Artist Commentary: Limited edition lenticular LED wall art held in a rectangular frame. Created with constantly fluctuating patterns and color palettes. Lenticular layers cause 3D visual shifts and changes from various viewing angles. In constant motion, these pieces reflect the fluctuating nature of life itself and humanity’s ability to embrace its unpredictable nature. This collection embodies the shifting patterns and cycles that enable us to continuously grow and evolve, despite the unforeseen circumstances that come our way. My hope is that these works are a reminder that a changing landscape can also be beautiful. May these pieces bring strength and encouragement to those who own them. This work transitions through approx. 40 changing color palettes and can be viewed in both light and dark environments. This rectangular design also has a slot to swap between various lenticular compositions. These additional sheets can be purchased separately, please enquire for more information. Also available in a larger size (25" x 19" x 6") -- Please contact us for further details. Keywords: light, led, installation, Artist Biography: Jasmine Pilcher...

WINNIE DENKER - Diamond Eiffel Tower Light Box
Located in PARIS, FR
Information: Winnie is a Danish photographer born in 1938. She is one of the most acclaimed photographers of her long career. One day she was asked by UNESCO to take pictures of World Heritage Sites. Since then, her main interests became architecture, museums, historic sites, and urban landscapes. Winnie’s technique is quite special. She assembles her photographs with leds, making meticulous light boxes. To make the boxes so special, the LEDs are placed in very precise places by hand. A work of craftsmanship that only insiders can appreciate. The manufacture of a single box light can take several weeks, due to the meticulousness of the work on the light which must reproduce the vision of the artist. Winnie moved to New York in 1975, when her photos were published in prestigious magazines such as Vogue and Elle. Her voyage to also gave rise to her first photographic book, published under the title "The Library of Nation USA "3. The artist's first published works include "Women's wear Daily" and "House and Gardens". In 1986, for the Eiffel Tower's centenary, the lighting design was entrusted to her friend Pierre Bideau. From then on, the photographer devoted a decade to the project, publishing three books featuring photos of the Iron Lady of Paris. It would be impossible to take these photos today, due to security measures.During this period, Winnie collaborated extensively with Françoise Sagan, who wrote the preface to the artist's book dedicated to the Eiffel Tower, giving it the title "La sentinelle de Paris" ("The Sentinel of Paris"). In 1992, Winnie takes wonderful photographs of the State Hermitage Museum of St Petersburg. The photos become so famous that the Museum asked to showcase her photos. This exhibition has been permanent since 1992. Today, Winnie is the author of 6 books...

Ben Young’s sculpture fluidly blends glass, concrete, bronze, steel, and light to depict romantic and pensive imagery highlighting the fragility of our climate and its most precious resource – water. Born in Australia and raised in New Zealand, Young is an avid surfer and environmentalist, inspired by a lifetime on and around oceans, bays, and reefs, with an intimate understanding of the challenges our precious ecosystems face. Young’s thought-provoking sculpture shows great range, portraying the beauty and solitude of life on the ocean, haunting depths of the deep sea, and stunning and relaxing upside of island life. Water is many things to many people, which Young encapsulates brilliantly in his work, encompassing themes of sustainability throughout. Using concrete to create mountains, crevasses, sand bars, and cliffs, Young’s innovative use of materials is transportative. With hand-carved glass as his guiding medium, Young amplifies light and its relationship with water – our most sacred element – to create a glowing unity that people from around the world connect with on a personal level, whether they are beachside or in the Desert. About the Artwork: Signed: Recto, bottom right The artist's desire to illuminate his works was the impetus for the Glowbox series. Inspired by the luminescence and light quality of blown glass, each acrylic painting on a plex substrate is internally lit by a custom-designed LED light box with a controllable dimmer switch. About the Artist: Inspired by nature and his 60 pet birds, Hunt Slonem is renowned for his distinct neo-expressionist style. He is best known for his series of bunnies, butterflies and tropical birds, as well as his large-scale sculptures and restorations of forgotten historic homes. Slonem’s works can be found in the permanent collections of 250 museums around the world, including the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, the Whitney, the Miro Foundation and the New Orleans Museum of Art. Since his first solo show at the Fischbach Gallery in 1977, Slonem’s work has been showcased internationally hundreds of times, most recently at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art and the State Russian Museum in St. Petersburg. In 2017 and 2018, he was featured by the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the National Gallery in Bulgaria, and in countless galleries across the United States and around the world. His flair and admiration for far-flung destinations has been a staple of his life since childhood. Slonem was born in 1951 in Kittery, Maine, and his father’s position as a Navy officer meant the family moved often during Hunt’s formative years, including extended stays in Hawaii, California and Connecticut. He would continue to seek out travel opportunities throughout his young-adult years, studying abroad in Nicaragua and Mexico; these eye-opening experiences imbued him with an appreciation for tropical landscapes that would influence his unique style. After graduating with a degree in painting and art history from Tulane University in New Orleans, Slonem spent several years in the early 1970s living in Manhattan. It wasn’t until Janet Fish offered him her studio for the summer of 1975 that Slonem was able to fully immerse himself in his work. His pieces began getting exhibited around New York, propelling his reputation and thrusting him into the city’s explosive contemporary arts scene. He received several prestigious grants, including from Montreal’s Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Cultural Counsel Foundation’s Artist Project, for which he painted an 80-foot mural of the World Trade Center in the late 1970s. He also received an introduction to the Marlborough Gallery, which would represent him for 18 years. Hunt Slonem tends to embrace the ephemeral beauty of nature, a characteristic that brings a nurturing, spiritual effect to his creations. Throughout his extensive career as a New York artist, Slonem has favored the subject of exotic birds, rabbits, and butterflies. Lately, his compositions have consisted of flat spaces with simple forms pushed to the front of the picture plane. The artist creates exotic forms with expressive and highly textural brushstrokes that are full of intense color, loosely inspired by artists of the German Expressionism movement such as Ernst Ludwig and Emil Nolde. Henry Geldzahler, a scholar of Hunt Slonem, notes that of contemporary artists, “he particularly admires the work of Malcolm Morely, Francesco Clemente and Roberto Juarez, all exoticists whose works convey a spiritual aura. Lest we leave the impression, belied by the paintings that Slonem is all depth and piety, we should note that there is a remarkable levity in his work, a lightness of being.” Born in the Year of the Rabbit, according to the Chinese astrological...

Katherine Jackson, Little Oil Seeing Red, 2020, Glass Wood Steel, Plexi, LED
Located in Darien, CT
There are two Little Oil installations available with 6 sculptures each on top of LED light boxes. Katherine Jackson has been working with glass and light together for many years, Recently, she's been making glass castings of vintage oil cans, and displaying them -- singly, in small groupings, or in vitrines -- on light boxes. So far she has created about 90, each one unique. The series is called Little Oil, alluding to Big Oil, and sometimes Small Oils, as in oil painting. But “oil” can mean many things. It has been a source of light (sometimes from unconscionable sources) since ancient times as well as a source of eternal light in many faith traditions. Set atop lightboxes, where each work glows from within, these pieces can simply seem like vessels of light itself. At times, they appear to me to transcend their relation to oil altogether, appearing anthropomorphic or creaturely, even biological.
