Energy

Energy

Located in Ibadan, Oyo

Oladimeji Alabi, a Nigerian contemporary artist, created a thought-provoking artwork titled "Energy," which emphasizes the essence of energy, both positive and negative, according to African spirituality. The artwork is a vivid depiction of the concept of karma, which is fundamental to African spirituality, and the law of nature, which states that what you give out, you get back in turn. The central piece of the artwork is a painting of a human figure, seemingly in a state of contemplation with her flowing hair. "What you give out, you get back in turn." This phrase is a direct reference to the concept of karma, which is prevalent in African spirituality. Karma is the belief that our actions have consequences, and that every action we take has an effect on our lives and the lives of those around us. Furthermore, the artwork emphasizes the importance of energy, both positive and negative, and how it affects our lives. According to African spirituality, everything in the universe is interconnected, and energy flows through all things. Positive energy is associated with good fortune, success, and happiness, while negative energy is associated with misfortune, failure, and sadness. In conclusion, Oladimeji Alabi's artwork "Energy" is a beautiful and thought-provoking piece that embodies the essence of African spirituality. The artwork's central message of karma and the law of nature is a powerful reminder that our actions have consequences and that we must be mindful of the energy we put out into the world. The artwork is a testament to the artist's skill and creativity, and it is sure to leave a lasting impression on all who view it. Shipping Procedure Ships in a well-protected tube from Nigeria This work is unique, not a print or other type of copy. Accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity (Issued by the Gallery) About Artist Oladimeji Alabi is an experimental contemporary visual artist based in Lagos. Drawings from Mt Gretna, III

Drawings from Mt Gretna, III

Located in Atlanta, GA

"My work principally consists of deeply abstracted figure compositions--intuitive constructions that begin with random marks establishing larger masses of torsos, heads, and limbs in an undefined setting. The emphasis is almost purely on intuition. The figures are born of their surrounding environment, emerging only partially and fugitively from the layers of pigment. A narrative is evident but never overt. A crown, a shield, a boat, a wheel. Though the subject has recently coalesced around my reading of Dante and Shakespeare, the settings remain extremely vague- a beach, an interior, a woodland. The paintings are, in the end, meditations on the relationship between the protagonists in a wordless drama. In my paintings, I use a cold wax medium...

Marilyn's Last Will - Collage on Paper by Sergio Barletta - 1980

By Sergio Barletta

Located in Roma, IT

Marilyn's Last Will is an original conceptual artwork realized in 1980 by Sergio Barletta (Bologna, 20 November 1934). Original collage (a colored t-shit and a newspaper clipping) on paper. The artwork is gluen on cardboard. Signature, titled and dated on plate Mint conditions (a fold on the lower left margin and yellowing of paper). Sergio Barletta (Bologna, 20 November 1934). He made his debut at a very young age for the Saturday insert of the Gazzetta del Popolo Fuorisacco, and in the same years he collaborated with various magazines as an illustrator. In 1968 he created the comic strip Mr. Manager for Rinascita, but following the magazine's refusal to publish it as it was too politicized, the strip landed on the magazines Ca Balà and Eureka, to which he also contributed with self-contained tables. Subsequently he collaborates as a satirical cartoonist with Italian and European magazines. For his irreverent and merciless style he has been compared to Jules Feiffer...

Mixed Media Neo Expressionist Painting Drawing African American Kids in Park

By Loren Munk

Located in Surfside, FL

Loren Munk (American, b. 1951), mixed media painting "Romulus & Remus", signed "Munk '89", 13" x 19" inches sheet, framed 20.25" x 26" inches. This one is African American kids in a park at the water fountain. The artist Loren Munk (born 1951) is primarily known for his YouTube nickname James Kalm as an uploader of videos about New York exhibitions, amongst others. He presents himself as a maker of contemporary paintings for several decades and of cubist paintings of urban imagery. Munk has received accolades for his drawings and mosaics. He differs from traditional mosaic artists by the manner in which he incorporates glass into his decorative paintings. His unique and innovative use of materials such as mirror, gold-leaf and glass mosaic affirmed him as a founding force of Kitsch Art and a leading member of New York Neo-Expressionism. Munk's work debuted in SoHo in 1981 with a double show at J. Fields Gallery and Gabrielle Bryers. Since then, he has overseen an international career. In addition to exhibiting in Brazil, France, Germany and the United States, Munk has received national and overseas, public and private commissions. He is well represented in important collections throughout Europe, South and North America and the Middle East. Most recently, Munk has been producing a series of paintings which tackle the subject of art itself through a historical and diagrammatic lens. Munk documents the New York art world in YouTube videos, using the name James Kalm. Timeline: 1979 Attended Art Students League, New York 1973-75 Attended University of Maryland at Ramstein, Germany while in US Army 1969-72 Attended Idaho State University, Pocatello, Idaho 1951 Born, Salt Lake City, Utah Select Group Exhibitions 2018 “Under Erasure” curated by Heather and Raphael Rubinstein at Pierogi Gallery New York 2016 "It Was Never Linear: Recent Painting" at the Sheldon Museum of Art Lincoln Neb. with: Robert Bordo, Dawn Clements, Lois Dodd, Michelle Grabner, Colin Prahl, Peter Saul, Barbara Takenaga, and Stanley Whitney 2014 "Some Artists" curated by Matthew Deleget at Minus Space.
