OYV-19 - Contemporary Abstract Collage Painting- Yellow, measuring tape

Located in Signal Mountain, TN

OYV-19 is part of Eric Mack's ongoing body of work utilizing multi-media, complex compositions, and a grid centered around urban design. Using a grid to create the framework of the painting, Mack has re-purposed an old Lenny Kravitz album cover as the structure of the piece. On the edges of the piece you can see a complex edge consisting of a faux leather album cover, nylon mesh, and torn paper. As imagery, Mack has chosen musical notes, tape measure, and other music composition elements through Zerox copy adhered by matte medium to the surface. Mack then creates his own color to further tweak and personalize the piece. Eric Mack (b.1976, Charleston) creates mathematically based renderings with a distinct post-modern twist. Works are informed with super imposed grids, patterns, and portals. Layered surfaces are created with paint, found objects, natural fibers, and synthetic substrates that explore the systems of our visual world. His most recent show “Charting the Terrain” is on view now at the California African American Museum in Los Angeles was covered by the Los Angeles Times, KCRW, and LALA Magazine. His last solo exhibition was titled "Impossible Architectures" at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2017. Recent group shows include "Abstract Mind" at the Czong Institute of Contemporary Art, South Korea, "Small Works 2017 at Trestle Gallery, Brooklyn, "Checkered History", Outpost Artist Resources, Brooklyn, N.Y. 2015; Collections include High Museum Atlanta, Ing Investments, Hartsfield Jackson International Airport - Atlanta + Atlanta Gas & Light Co. Alexandra Rutsch Brock, Currents, 2020, gouache, thread, 8 x 8 in

By Alexandra Rutsch Brock

Located in Darien, CT

These new small-scale paintings were created using gouache on handmade paper. Alexandra Rutsch Brock then “drew” with a sewing machine using various colored threads. Using the thread as a painted line, playing with the marks and motifs the machine allows that creates contrast in both surface and color. They are sewn directly with no preliminary sketches, just instinctive gesture, sometimes in a similar color to enhance a texture, other times contrasting as a new element. The entangled threads that dangle down emphasize the materiality. Working so closely to the surface, she is aware of the senses of seeing, breathing, touching and feeling……………escaping into these new surfaces. Alexandra Rutsch Brock has exhibited in solo and group shows most recently at The Keck School at USC, CA, The Painting Center, NY, Village West Gallery, NJ and Misericordia University, PA. Her work has been featured in Studio Visit Magazine SV Vol44. OPEN EQUIVALENCE 1 - acrylic on cut linen with cotton thread -Abstract Geometric

By Linda King Ferguson

Located in Signal Mountain, TN

In this sculptural piece, Linda King Ferguson has cut a piece of linen canvas into a half-diamond shape, with an ellipsis cut-out close to the scalloped right edge. A red cotton thread completes the second half of the diamond shape, then hangs from the bottom corner, evoking the image of a kite. King Ferguson's paintings are abstractions of the female body. Stalk. Mixed Media Collage

By Roberto Fonfria

Located in Miami Beach, FL

Fonfria's work explores human behavior and social rules with a critical eye and humor, touching on personal themes such as dreams, fears, and memories. The images come from old magazines, advertising, and photo albums collected at thrift stores. By extracting them from their natural context, he reconstructs them by adding references to popular culture as well as common phrases and insights that come from his Venezuelan childhood. "Emblem" paper collage, hand-embroidery, neon, geometric pattern, thread

By Kelly Kozma

Located in Philadelphia, PA

This piece titled "Emblem" is an original artwork made from collage, hand embroidery, and latex paint on canvas by Kelly Kozma. This piece is shipped in the pictured white frame and measures 6"h x 6"w framed. The catalyst for this new body of work was a jar of leftover magazine cutouts from a collage I made in 2010. Reusing leftover materials as well repurposing items that might end up thrown away, has become a very important part of my process the past decade. Stumbling across this jar of coin sized images that had waited patiently on a shelf for 12 years, ignited my creative process and drove me to explore collage in a new way. Unlike the piece from 2010 in which I assembled the images by piecing them together, I decided to examine each individual cut out on its on. By removing the image from any other context it allows you to focus solely on its meaning, purpose or feelings that it may evoke. Each image is embedded in a field of French knots which felt like a way of creating a time capsule of sorts for the object. Another inspiration behind this collection is my six year old son and his endless piles of sticks, stones, leaves, etc in our home. Only to him they aren’t sticks and stones, they are treasures. His ability to find a tiny twig or scrap of paper and not only cherish it but give it a backstory of why it is so special, is a beautiful thing and one I have tried to tap into with my new work. By placing a picture of a rubberband ball or a set of Dracula teeth or a banana in this embroidered box...
