Coral Reef from Above Heavy Texture Ocean Abstract

By Olga Nikitina

Located in Zofingen, AG

This original mixed media painting by Olga Nikitina is inspired by coral reefs, underwater landscapes, and the textures of the ocean floor. The artwork is created using oil paint combined with texture paste, sand, and small stones, forming a highly textured sculptural surface that resembles natural coral formations and marine structures. Using a palette knife and mixed media materials, the artist built multiple layers of texture, creating depth and movement across the surface. Rich tones of turquoise, deep blue, emerald green, and warm coral colors evoke the feeling of looking at a coral reef from above, like an aerial ocean landscape, or exploring the reef underwater. The combination of oil paint with natural materials such as sand and stones gives the painting a raw, organic quality and a strong three-dimensional presence. Light interacts beautifully with the textured surface, constantly changing the appearance of the artwork throughout the day. This painting is part of Olga Nikitina’s ocean-inspired body of work, influenced by marine environments and underwater exploration. The work sits between abstract painting and aerial landscape, making it suitable for contemporary, coastal, modern, or minimalist interiors. The artwork is created on stretched canvas and is ready to hang. By Terence La Noue

Located in Lake Worth Beach, FL

Winter Killed Five Paths, 1983 Mixed Media Abstract, signed and title on revers. No frame needed for this work at the top is attached to plank of wood and ready to be hang, it will be rolled up for shipping. Terence La Noue was born in Hammond, Indiana in 1941. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1964. After going to Berlin as a Fulbright Meister Student at Hochscule fur Bildende Kunste in 1964-65 he went on to receive a Master of Fine Arts degree from Cornell University. In addition to the Fulbright Foundation fellowship, La Noue has twice received grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Guggenheim Foundation. He has had extensive teaching experience at Trinity College 1967-72, the City University of New York 1972-85 and at New York University in 1987. He lives between Arizona, Paris, France and Vermont. Terence La Noue, who has created powerful, compelling paintings for the last four decades, is considered one of the outstanding talents of 20th century American abstract art. Layering canvas, fabric, gauze, acrylic paint and cast elements forming a lively melding of many different materials, symbols and colors to create tapestry-like paintings, he conjures up colorfully rich abstractions that reveal a sense of myth, magic and mystery. His extensive world travels serve as inspiration for works that are abstract mixtures of Western and non-Western traditions and histories. India, South America, Morocco, Mexico and Nepal have been favorite destinations. Terence La Noue’s unique approach to painting and printmaking has achieved worldwide recognition. Beginning in Berlin in 1965 he has had over a hundred and thirty acclaimed solo exhibitions in London, Paris, Tehran, Stockholm, Hamburg, Dusseldorf, Cologne, New York, Washington, DC, Los Angeles, Houston, Chicago, Palm Beach, Dallas, Atlanta, Tucson and Scottsdale. His work is represented in the permanent collections of major museums including: The Museum of Modern Art in New York, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Whitney Museum of Art, The Corcoran Gallery, The Guggenheim Museum, The Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn, New York, The Tate Modern in London in Japan, Singapore, France and Australia including the Center for Contemporary Art, Kitakyushu, Japan, the Power Institute of Fine Arts, Sydney, Australia, The Musee d'Art et Archeologie, Paris, France. Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States Carnegie Institute, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington D.C., United States Albright-Knox Art Gallery, Buffalo, New York, United States National Gallery of Australia, Sidney, Australia Addison Gallery of American Art, Phillips Academy, Andover, Massachusetts United States Embassy, Beijing, China His work is also included in numerous university and city art museums throughout the US as well as major corporate collections. Terence la Noue worked extensively at Tyler Graphics from 1987 to 1993 and is represented in the National Gallery’s Kenneth Tyler Collection by a large body of work made in 1987 and 1991. La Noue’s work is characterized by an intensive layering process, which was well accommodated by the Tyler workshop. The artist found that through collaboration with Ken Tyler...

Jaali: Phulwari (Flower Garden) - Embroidered Tapestry Wall Hanging

By Shabbir Merchant

Located in Asheville, NC

Jaali: Jaali' of Urdu origin meaning netting, is an ornamental open work originally crafted on wood, metal and stone for interiors. A significant feature of Indo-Islamic art, the Jaali is an intricate pattern ranging from delicate trellises to complex floral layouts. The wall panels depict the interlacing design of the Jaali in mid earth tones on silk. The compositions of flowers and the paisley are embroidered in thread with subtle highlightes of shine. A note on handmade: A handmade product is always appealing due to the irregularities in its workmanship. This is what sets it apart from machine made or computerized; the perfection they offer feels synthetic or artificial. Especially when one speaks of art and craft. These wall panels are works of hand worked embroideries. Imperfections such as an occasional puckering of the base material are expected with the kind of embroidery stitches used. You are assured these artworks are embroidered by highly skilled artisans (it is not possible for craftsmen of lesser experience to create these pieces) The materials used for the embroideries are of superior quality only. The Air Holds Our Names - Abstract Textured Surrealist Landscape Oil Painting

By Reynier Llanes

Located in Los Angeles, CA

Reynnier Llanes’ oil and mixed media paintings invite the viewer into a cinematic world where realism meets allegory. Llanes’ storytelling is layered and poetic, offering moments that reward slow looking as meaning gathers through atmosphere, gesture, and metaphor. • One-of-a-kind original oil and mixed media painting on canvas measuring 57 inches square • Professionally stretched, wired, and ready to hang • Signed by the artist on the front and back • Certificate of authenticity issued by the art gallery is included • Convenient local Los Angeles area delivery • Affordable U.S. and international shipping available Reynier Llanes is a Cuban born contemporary painter recognized for richly detailed narrative works shaped by memory, folklore, and a magical realist sensibility. He trained in Pinar del Río, later moving to Havana before emigrating to the United States, where his practice continued to evolve through sustained attention to craft, symbolism, and storytelling. Across his broader body of work, Llanes often builds dreamlike environments where nature and daily life take on allegorical roles, reflecting on identity, belief, and belonging. He is also known for incorporating Cuban espresso coffee in works on paper, a material choice that deepens the connection between medium, cultural memory, and lived experience, while reinforcing his ongoing interest in how personal history can be carried through image and narrative. Artplex Gallery has been representing and exhibiting Reynnier Llanes’s original artworks in Los Angeles since 2026, presenting his impressive works to an international collector base around the globe. The gallery has been a 1stdibs partner since 2014 with consistently excellent reviews from clients worldwide. The gallery exhibits a well-curated selection of original artworks beyond the ordinary from established and emerging international artists with diverse backgrounds at high standards.
