Johann Berthelsen was born in Copenhagen in 1883, the 7th of seven children, to Conrad and Dorothea Karen Berthelsen. His parents were involved in artistic and professional circles. In 1890, his mother brought the children to America, settling in Manistee, Michigan, with her sister's family. They would eventually move to Manitowoc, Wisconsin, a city on the shore of Lake Michigan. As a teenager, Johann was actively involved in choirs and singing groups. And he always loved to draw and paint, and while he was too impatient to take well to schoolwork, and never went beyond the 5th grade.

Christopher Willett, was born in 1959 in Bucks County Pennsylvania and is mostly known for his landscape paintings. Willett, a painter with a family lineage dating back to ancestors arriving in this country aboard the Mayflower and Victory, settling Plymouth. Some recorded family history finds a Willett ancestor, Augustine Willett whom was a Captain of historic repute under the command of General Washington. A native of Texas, Chuck Mauldin has been painting in oil since the age of twelve. His interest in watercolor and pencil drawing grew during his years spent in Louisiana. With his move back to Texas, he has renewed his focus on oil painting, using this medium in a realistic yet painterly style. Striving to quickly capture color and mood with a direct "alla prima" technique is one of his main objectives in painting outdoors on-location. Cows, cowboys and Native Americans often enrich the landscape in his studio work, while anything can inspire his plein air paintings.
Workshops with Charles Sovek, Kevin Macpherson, and many others have played a significant role in his development as an artist. He is a member of Oil Painters of America and has achieved Signature membership status in the Louisiana Watercolor Society and the Plein Air Artists of Colorado. Chuck has won numerous awards and has had work accepted into prestigious national juried competitions, such as the Oil Painters of America National Show (2020, 2021), Western Regional Show (2016, 2021, 2022) and Salon Show (2016, 2020).
After 28 years in Louisiana, Chuck and his wife, Barbara, moved to Fredericksburg, Texas, in 2005, in order to pursue their passion for art on a full-time basis. In 2008, Chuck started teaching a beginner’s oil painting class and later intermediate classes in composition, landscape painting, and limited palettes. He is represented by Charles Morin Fine Art in Fredericksburg, Texas.
Degrees in chemistry from Southern Methodist University (B.S.) and the University of Texas (PhD) led to Chuck's career in research at ExxonMobil Process Research Labs in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. This luminist and atmospheric evening seascape by Granville Redmond (1871 - 1935) was painted on Catalina Island off the California coast c.1920. Redmond was a very prominent California Impressionist known for his serene tranquil and mood-filled California coastal paintings bathed in moonlight with waves gently rolling onto the shore. As a deaf mute, he explained that without speech and hearing, his abilities to see things in a detailed and poetic way were much more honed and enhanced. He was renowned for his Impressionist landscapes, particularly those featuring California wildflowers, coastal scenes, and tonal moonlit settings. Despite his deafness from a young age, Redmond achieved significant acclaim for his art and even acted in silent films, becoming friends with Charlie Chaplin, who built an art studio for him on his large movie lot. Redmond lost his hearing due to scarlet fever as a child and later attended the California School for the Deaf in Berkeley, where his artistic talents were nurtured. Anthony Thieme was born in the Dutch port city of Rotterdam in 1888. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rotterdam, at the Royal Academy at the Hague, as an apprentice to George Hoecker, a well known stage designer in Düsseldorf, Germany, and to Antonio Mancini, an Italian Impressionist. After completing his studies, Thieme journeyed throughout Europe and South America, working in stage design to support his travels. Thieme first came to the United States in 1917 and initially worked as a set designer and book illustrator first in New York and later in Boston.

This large landscape oil painting by John Traynor captures a scene in New England. Cows are visible in front of a long picket fence, with a red barn and house behind the fence and lush green trees on either side and along the hills in the horizon. Fluffy, almost abstracted clouds sit above the hills, with a patch of blue skies shining through toward the top of the image. The painting is 48" x 72", and 58" x 82" framed. It is professionally framed in a classic, antiqued, gold leaf frame. It is signed by the artist in the bottom right-hand corner of the canvas, and is wired and ready to hang.
John C. Traynor's painting style is reminiscent of some 19th century painters and the Dutch Masters. He uses his knowledge of light and color to create a certain mood in each of his works. The creation of atmosphere is an important element in Traynor's paintings. Painting outdoors, on location, is a prime source of inspiration and ideas for his landscapes. John travels extensively, painting the landscapes around him.
John was born in 1961 and spent his early years in Chester and Mendham, New Jersey. His art studies began at Delbarton School in Morristown, New Jersey, and from there he furthered his education at Paier College of Art in New Haven, Connecticut.
