By Nick Hunt

Located in Santa Monica, CA

Nick Hunt grew up in in Newport Beach in the 80’s and early 90’s. As Hunt states, “It was an unknown area to a lot of the world. Development was in progress, but at that point in time it was still mostly open land, populated with surfers and desert-beach dreamers. My work is inspired by this desert-ocean dangerous allure.” Hunt’s work, while abstract, conjures a sense of history - both in their Light and Space influences and in the the rough beauty of the objects themselves. The scumbled, dented, sometimes bullet riddled surfaces reveal layers of color, painted on metal, and hint at a romantic complexity beneath the glossy enameled surfaces. Hunt spent a lot of time in Mexico as a boy, where he got to know Billy Al Bengston, Peter Alexander, Chuck Arnoldi...

Vincent Van Gogh, Space Junk.

Located in OIA, ES

"Vincent Van Gogh, Space Junk" catapults the iconic Dutch artist into a surreal collision of art history and futuristic fantasy. This bold creation from 2022 reimagines Van Gogh as a cosmic adventurer, navigating the abstract and chaotic realms of both outer space and digital frontiers. The painting portrays Van Gogh's head as a striking blue skull, one eye transformed into a cartoon-style eyeball, the other a mouth, illustrating a whimsical yet profound melding of forms and perspectives. A playful bubble gum balloon emerges from his mouth, injecting a casual, cool vibe into the composition. Van Gogh's attire further emphasizes this blend of past and future: he dons a sleek astronaut suit...

"Nestcafe Society" and Corporate Ideals A striking painting by Diego Tirigall prompts deep thoughts about the relationship between appearances and reality. The painting features a rough sketch of a well-known instant coffee brand logo with words "N3stcafe Society" beneath it. This serves as a powerful symbol of the illusions that society and corporate ideals can create. The Illusion of High-Quality Coffee The painting highlights the gap between the promise of high-quality coffee and the reality of mass-produced, preservative-filled coffee packaged in an industrial jar. The large axe that cuts through the words "N3stcafe Society" symbolizes the destruction of these false promises and the consequences of pretending to be something one is not. The red coffee jar...
