Lampedusa (framed) - large scale photograph of Mediterranean summer beach scene

By Massimo Vitali

Located in San Francisco, CA

Large format photograph of a summer beach scene on the Mediterranean island of Lampedusa, from an earlier body of works (2012) by iconic Italian photographer Massimo Vitali, renowned for his grand scale topographical observations of the rites and rituals of modern leisure Lampedusa (2012) 61.25” x 81.7” / 156 cm x 207,5 cm limited edition of 6 + 2AP (signed, titled and dated on certificate of authenticity) last available edition: AP1 original archival photography print with diasec (acrylic glass) face mount in contemporary white lacquered gallery frame Each limited edition original Massimo Vitali photograph is printed in Italy under artist supervision in strictly limited edition (6 + 2AP) , signed/titled/dated upon final inspection and expertly framed at renowned European art framing facility Disclaimer of authenticity: although it is possible to acquire (small size) single page offset prints from the book "A Portfolio of Landscapes and Figures" (published by Steidl) in the secondary market, the artist studio strongly dissuades collectors from purchasing these single page prints outside of the context and authenticity of the complete portfolio. About the artist: Massimo Vitali was born in Como, Italy, in 1944. He studied photography at the London College of Printing, in the 1970s initially working as a photojournalist, but at the beginning of the 80s a growing mistrust in the belief that photography had an absolute capacity to reproduce the subtleties of reality led to a change in his career path. Vitali worked in cinematography for film and television before beginning a fine art practice in 1995. Over the next two decades, he would gain recognition for his highly detailed, epic-scale panoramas — sociopolitical observations of the natural habitat of humankind at leisure. Vitali’s iconic series of beach panoramas, captured from a distance with an elevated large-format camera platform, began in the light of drastic political changes in Italy. Drawing inspiration from Renaissance and Old Flemish masters, in which the central space is fully exploited and the urban or natural landscape becomes the background, Vitali’s photographs grasp the viewer by capturing highly detailed observances of the recreational habitats of modern civilization. Vitali’s work has been collected in six monographs: Beach and Disco, Natural Habitats, Landscapes With Figures, Swimming Pools, Short Stories and Entering A New World. Additionally, his work is represented in the world’s major museums, including the Centro de Arte Reina Sofia in Madrid, the Guggenheim Museum in New York, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Denver, the Fond National Art Contemporaine in Paris, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the Musée National d’Art Moderne in Paris, the Fondation Cartier in Paris and the Museo Luigi Pecci in Prato. Massimo Vitali lives and works in Lucca (Italy) and in Berlin (Germany). __________________________ SOLO EXHIBITIONS 2025 94/22 Zander Galerie, Cologne 2024 Photolux Festival - Il bel paese? Sarakiniko No.3 Milos (Limited Edition of 25) - The Sea Photography

By Christopher Petsos

Located in New York, NY

This image captured in 2017 by New York photographer Christopher Petsos features the Sarakiniko beach in Milos, Greece, one of the most beautiful “moonscape” beaches in the world. This beach is known for being the most photographed attraction in the Aegean Sea. Due to its picturesque beauty, it's become an Instagram darling. Christopher Petsos is a New York City based photographer and artist. He is known for capturing Light, pattern, texture, color and motion across the urban realm. Petsos believes that we see things through a filter of the self, a camera records the physical details of a scene, but our human eyes and sub-conscious self, are the interpreters that complete our view of reality. In his own words: “Throughout the process, I stay faithful to the underlying truth of the scene. My work inhabits the space between literal depiction and my emotional Impression of the moment. The result is hyper-reality: facts imbued with feeling.” In this image, Christopher Petsos stands true to his words and brilliantly captures the light, pattern, texture, color and motion across the urban realm and painted it in his own colors to give the viewer a new perspective. Limited Numbered Edition of this iconic print on fine art archival pigment paper and signed by Christopher Petsos are available in the sizes below. We ship world-wide and shipping is free. Dream Deck, The Dream Art Project
Dream Deck, The Dream Art Project

Dream Deck, The Dream Art Project

By Anne Valverde

Located in New York, NY

The photograph is available in three sizes. The print is proposed as a face-mount; it is mounted to acrylic at the front and Dibond at the back. It is ready to hang with a metal bracket on the wall. In "Dream Deck," Anne Valverde presents a twilight meditation where the art of photography meets the tangible touch of installation. Valverde personally selects and places neon text, a radiant declaration of 'dreams,' onto a tranquil lakeside pier. This glowing script becomes the focal point, blurring the line between the environment and the message it carries. With an artist’s eye for the profound symbiosis between word and world, Valverde chooses the placement and font of the neon text to complement the natural serenity of the dusk-lit waters. The radiant blue of the evening sky mingles with the reflective surface of the lake, creating a seamless blend of color and calm, while the neon installation offers a striking visual contrast — a bridge between the viewer’s reality and the infinite potential of the dream world. The artistry of "Dream Deck" lies in its invitation to pause and ponder, prompted by the glowing invitation to dream, suspended just above the water’s surface. Valverde’s photograph is a carefully orchestrated composition that speaks to the dreamer within, suggesting that within the stillness of nature’s embrace, there is space to dream out loud. This piece is more than a snapshot of a place; it is a deliberate performance of light and typography, a narrative captured in a single, still moment that encourages the viewer to engage with the fluid boundaries of dreams. Since 2015, Valverde has been working on a neon light installation project in several countries, which she materialises through photography. The DREAM ART PROJECT Her portfolio “City Icons” in 2008 brought her work to public attention. A series about Iconic Monuments from Major cities like Paris, New York, Hong Kong, London, Dubaï… Writing with Neon brings together two passions for Anne Valverde: light and words thus incorporating her main medium of expression: Photography. Valverde brings artificial light to areas where electricity is absent, creating a dissonance in the landscape and an unexpected and dreamlike light, creating a new message, independent from preexisting signs and words. Valverde’s first message is "dream", as she invites the viewer to go past reality and reflect on open spaces for escape in a complex and tormented world. Some themes are recurring: an amused gaze on social media omnipresence, hyper-connectivity or even office language shortcuts. This contemplation of the natural landscape suddenly opens up to a perspective on social evolution. By inserting neon lights in her photographs, she initiates a return...

Midtown Manhattan from Central Park Reservoir

Midtown Manhattan from Central Park Reservoir

By William Mackie

Located in Boston, MA

Artist Commentary: As a child I never spent much time exploring central park. It has now become one of my favorite places to spend time while in New York. On this evening I was visiting a friend and casually strolling the path circling the reservoir. We slowly started to realize that there was a lot of action in the sky and that we might be in for a colorful sunset. This resulted in a mad dash to the north eastern corner of the reservoir to be in the correct spot to catch sunrise and the buildings. Luckily we made it in time to catch the amazing colors. Plunge

Plunge

By Lynda Churilla

Located in Hudson, NY

Photographed entirely in the ethereal lakeside environs of the Adirondacks, Lynda Churilla's latest exhibition synthesizes the aesthetics of strength and softness. Central to this aesthetic theme is the portrayal of Churilla's husband and muse John, who she describes as a source of inspiration. Standing nude and silhouetted in the foreground, the powerful form of John's body is rendered stoic and subdued by multiple mist‐wreathed aquatic expanses and looming woodland scenes. Whether standing in a state of intent tranquility in the foreground of a forest, or captured mid‐action during diving or archery, John imparts a sense of security through his physique and determined mien. Also conveyed is an air of intrigue stemming from his body, which is often concealed by shadow or wreathed in haze. Examples of masterful composition, Churilla's black‐and‐white images fully demonstrate the pacifying effect of nature on the male figure. The invitational piece, Silence represents Churilla's overall vision for this exhibition, featuring John facing away from the camera while standing in the shallows in a mist covered lake. Staring into the distance with his body in graceful repose, he appears lost in and enveloped by his surroundings, eliciting the romantic feeling of limitlessness and a sense of peace. The style in which Churilla captures John is reminiscent of the figurative nudes produced by photographers like Jock Sturges or Sally Mann. This exhibition is composed of eleven large-format pieces which range from 30" x 40" to 60" x 40". Eight photographs centered on John are accompanied by three abstract landscape pieces that capture the Adirondacks in all its otherworldly beauty. In one of these, White Mist, one stumbles into a world of beautifully muted color tones, in which a nearly impenetrable mist surrounds a lake. This photograph serves to highlight stillness of water, which Churilla herself regards as healing and thought inducing. Churilla first gained her appreciation of the Adirondacks while working as an assistant to the legendary photographer Bruce Weber in his 1990 series Bear Pond. Since studying as Weber's protégé for nearly a decade, Churilla's own work has been acclaimed by such publications as American Photo and Harper's Bazaar, in which she has been lauded as a promising female photographer. She has photographed numerous celebrities, such as Cameron Diaz, Jewel, Olivier Martinez, Coldplay, Pet Shop Boys...

Jean-Pierre De Neef came to photography like a new convert to religion, convinced that it would lend meaning to his life. His path took him first to a photographic laboratory, having once been a Cibachrome expert, regularly visited by French art photographers who made their way to Brussels to consult him.
