Lynx inside and outdoor sculpture unique black wrough iron feline cat natural
Located in Milan, IT
The sculpture is a unique, unrepeatable piece. Can be an outdoor sculpture. The Lynx belongs to the cycle dedicated to local animals that the sculptor has been working on. The artwork has just been exhibited in the prestigious museum in Rovereto, the Mart, Italy's leading museum of modern and contemporary art. It has been created with a technique that the artist has perfected over his long experience. Furthermore, he learnt a few technical skills from his father, a sculptor of wrought iron too. Visage d’homme (Man’s Head), 1968-1969 A.R. 570
Located in Palo Alto, CA
Pablo Picasso Visage d’homme (Man’s Head), 1968-1969 A.R. 570 showcases the artist’s unrivaled ability to illustrate human nuance. Each aspect of the man’s face, from his furrowed brow to his side gaze is carefully illustrated. The crowding of horizontal lines on his brow and vertical lines on his nose bring a sense of tension to his face, which compounds the furrowed brow. There are only two colors on the plaque, black and red, but the semi circle of hair atop the mans head...

Gray Whale
Located in Kansas City, MO
Grace Khalsa Gray Whale Medium: Black stoneware and white slip Year: 2021 Size: 25" x 13" x 6.5" Description: Slip-trailed skeleton sculpture Signed COA provided (by representing gallery) ------------------------------ ARTIST STATEMENT “We humans are poised between microcosm and macrocosm, containing one, sensing the other, comprehending both.” - Frank Wilczek The focus of my work is to bring attention to natural forms and patterns that implicate vast interconnection. I am captivated by the diversity and intricacy of natural systems and I consistently find myself searching for commonalities within them. These commonalities provide me with a tangible form of navigating the intangible perceptions of existence. My most recent body of work examines and illustrates the skeletons of various animals. In looking closely at their anatomy, I find undeniable similarities indicating common evolution. Shared spines, ribs, teeth and vestigial structures are the signatures of millions of years of complex relationships. After sculpting the body of the animal, I then meticulously slip-trail each skeletal detail layer by layer. This process requires an understanding of how every layer, however small, will affect the greater whole. I see clay as a material of ‘deep time’ both in a geological and cultural sense. Fired clay, ceramic, is an archival material, a record keeper of human history. Taking the role of a scientific illustrator, these works are my mark in time, paying homage to the creatures they portray. I hope to highlight the pervasive entanglement of life and honor the delicate, nuanced relationships that exist between human and non-human. BIO Grace Khalsa is a ceramic artist from Knoxville, TN. She is currently an Artist in Residence at the Mendocino Art Center in Mendocino, CA. Khalsa received her BFA in Art Practices with minors in Art History and Anthropology from the University of Colorado Boulder. She has completed two years of Post-Baccalaureate study in ceramics, one year at the University of Colorado Boulder and one at Louisiana State University. Khalsa has exhibited work at the Artists Co-Op of Mendocino, Ann Connelly...

Antique Horse Bronze Trotting Stallion Isidore Jules Bonheur (France, 1827-1901)
Located in SANTA FE, NM
Antique Horse Bronze Portrait of a Trotting Stallion Isidore Jules Bonheur (France, 1827-1901) Cast bronze mounted on a rectangular plinth with dark brown patina, Signed: I. BONHEUR 17 x 11 3/4 A brilliant exploration of a stallion in full trot. The patina is a deep, warm walnut brown with honey-colored tones. Isidore Bonheur was best known and the most distinguished of the 19th century French animalier sculptors. Isidore, the younger brother of Rosa Bonheur and older brother of Auguste, began his studies of painting initially with his father, who was friends with Francisco Goya. By 1848 he debuted at the Paris Salon having discontinued animal and landscape painting to concentrate on creating sculptures and in 1849, Bonheur enrolled at the Ecole des Beaux Arts. He won medals at the Paris Salon in 1859 and did so again in 1865 and in 1869. After entering the Exposition Universelle 1855, he won the Gold Medal in 1889. In the 1870s exhibited in the London at the Royal Academy of Arts where he earned great prestige and won the coveted Medaille d’Or. After winning numerous other medals and prizes, Bonheur was awarded the Legion d' Honneur in 1895 and he was Knighted in Portugal, Spain and France. Bonheur continued exhibiting at the Paris Salon until 1899. Many of his bronzes were fabricated at the foundry owned by Hippolyte Peyrol, Bonheur's brother-in-law by marriage to Isidore’s youngest sister Juliette Bonheur. The Peyrol casts for both Rosa and Isidore are exceptionally well executed which suggests a strong working relationship between the founder and sculptor. There is little doubt that Isidore Bonheur was an acute observer of nature; his animals were not anthropomorphized but modelled to catch movement or posture characteristics of the particular species he was sculpting. He achieved this most successfully with his sculptures of horses which are usually depicted as relaxed rather than spirited. These figures are among his most renowned works and his equestrian models became very popular, particularly among the British aristocracy. An acute observer of nature, his sculptures reflect his commitment to the Realist school - with precise detailing of the movements of animals in their natural habitats. Ultimately, His naturalistic studies of animals are now some of the most highly sought after works by any of the animalier. He was possibly inspired by his many visits to the Buffalo Bill Wild West Show...

"Alubulidae 3" Hand forged salvaged steel fish wall sculpture
By Hugh Holborn
Located in Edgartown, MA
Hugh Holborn is that rare kind of craftsman who is also an auteur in his own right. He started his journey when he was 12 as an apprentice for New Mexico sculptor Jim Martin. From there he went on to study his craft at the American College of Building Art. He brings industrial materials such as steel, iron and salvaged metals to life as metallic marine life, honoring the aquatic creatures around which he lives. Growing up between the New England islands and Florida, Holborn feels blessed to have always lived boating on and swimming in the waters that now inspire his metalwork. Memories from diving and fishing are important parts of his life, yet with climate changed and increased environmental concerns he also recognizes his experience with the ocean as impermanent. Holborn now lives in St. Augustine, Florida with his girlfriend and their newborn twin daughters. His artwork has given him a sense of self reliance and environmental stewardship—being able to craft functional items for his own home and doing so in a way he knows is environmentally conscious. He plans to keep creating art using historical methods, and wants to keep those methods alive by teaching them to new craftsman...
