Rare & Fine Antique English Elkington Silver Plate 3pc. Zodiac Tea for 2 Teaset
By Elkington & Co.
Located in CHARLESTON, SC
A very highly sought after silversmith and pattern, this Zodiacal/Astrological 3 piece silver plated HAND CHASED Tea Set was made by the Royal Warranted silversmith, Elkington & Company, of Birmingham (UK), inventors of electroplated silver ware (and electroplating in general!) This set has been made in the mid to late 19th century in England by a variety of silversmiths, mostly in Sterling. However, Elkington made this set in small supply in fine electroplate (please note the marks on the base of each piece.) Please note the wonderful adaptation of the astrological signs in individual panels, There is a blank cartouche suitable for engraving on the teapot and open sugar bowl. Elkington was also one of the few silver smiths that used a "cypher" system to date their plated wares (unlike most other British manufacturers and those pieces in sterling which are mandated to be marked with the year of manufacture.) The cypher marks indicate that this set was made between 1883-1888 and is in pristine age-appropriate condition with no exterior plate loss whatsoever (and very little wear noted except the inside of the teapot which was carefully used and still remains usable, as are the open sugar bowl and the cream jug.) The diminutive size of this set is indicative of an afternoon tea set for two...

Elegant Neoclassical Silverplated Coffee/Tea Service by Elkington & Co.
By Elkington & Co.
Located in New York, NY
This lustrous six piece coffee/tea service was created circa 1950 by the legendary silversmiths Elkington & Co of Birmingham England. It includes a tray, a samovar, a coffee and tea pot, a sugar bowl, and a cream saucer. While each piece in the service is decorated with elaborate flora and fauna etchings and ribbed striations (with the exception of the samovar), they all have distinguishing idiosyncratic details. The samovar, for example, has a mushroom shaped finial, whereas the coffee and tea pots feature meadow buttercup finials. Additionally, the handles of each vessel incorporate a charming vine motif inlaid with ringed bone insets. The samovar includes a kerosene heater...

Tiffany & Co. is so famous due to its rich heritage. A young Franklin Delano Roosevelt proposed to his future wife, Eleanor, with a Tiffany ring in 1904. Vanderbilts, Whitneys, Astors and members of the Russian imperial family all wore Tiffany & Co. jewels. And Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis preferred Tiffany china for state dinners at the White House. In addition, Tiffany & Co. helped put diamonds on the map in 1886 by introducing the American marketplace to the solitaire diamond design, which is still among the most popular engagement ring styles. The legendary American luxury house Tiffany & Co. is currently owned by Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton (LVMH), which completed the acquisition of the company in January, 2021. The firm started out modestly — Charles Lewis Tiffany and John B. Young founded it in Connecticut as a “stationery and fancy goods emporium” in 1837, at a time when European imports still dominated the nascent American luxury market. Upon Charles’ death in 1902, his son Louis Comfort Tiffany took over artistic direction for the brand. On 1stDibs, find authentic Tiffany & Co. pieces from some of the world's top sellers.

Jacob & Co. is considered expensive for a few reasons. For one thing, the watch collectors of the world know the watchmaker for its multicolored-gemstone designs as well as its oversized and innovative complications. There are substantial costs related to the design, assembly and premium materials associated with Jacob & Co.’s luxury watches, which are painstakingly crafted in Switzerland and sold all over the world. The price tag reflects the brand’s use of meticulously sourced round brilliant cut diamonds and metals such as 18-karat gold. Additionally, only a limited number of timepieces leave the watchmaker's workshops each year, so demand usually far exceeds supply. Find Jacob & Co. watches for sale on 1stDibs.
