An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver coffee jug made by Joseph Angell I & Joseph Angell II; an addition to our antique silverware collection. This exceptional antique sterling silver coffee jug, in sterling standard, has a baluster form. The body of this Victorian coffee jug is embellished with an impressive broad band of bright cut ornamentation depicting connected Grecian figures intertwined with long flowing fabric, all on a matte background. This narrative scene is flanked with an impressive interlacing leaf decorated border to the lower portion and a scrolling Akroter decorated band to the upper portion, in addition to plain moulded borders to the rims. This impressive antique coffee jug is fitted with a flush hinged hallmarked cover encircled with a bright cut engraved undulating band; the flush indicates the high quality of the piece. The cover is surmounted by the original sterling silver finial in the formation of a flower comprised of scrolling leaf designs and textures. The coffee jug retains the original rounded sterling silver handle, incorporating a leaf design to the upper portion and an exceptional leaf design to the lower socket. The interior of this impressive example of Victorian silverware retains the original gilding. This versatile jug could be functionally used for coffee or water. This extraordinarily rare and masterfully crafted tea urn is by the hand of the master Georgian silversmith Paul Storr. Created by Storr while working for Rundell, Bridge and Rundell, Jewelers and Goldsmiths to the King, this magnificent piece truly represents the sophisticated style of the renowned firm and the enormous talents of Paul Storr. Applied and engraved decoration envelop this masterpiece equipped with a carved handle, lion's head spigot and spectacular lion's paw supports. The piece bears the arms of the Neave Baronetcy with those of Digby, for Sir Thomas Neave and his wife Frances Caroline, daughter of the Hon. William Digby, the Dean of Durham. Though he held no formal title, Storr enjoyed patronage from the most important and powerful figures of the period including King George III and the Prince of Wales, the future King George IV. A magnificent, fine and impressive pair of antique Georgian English sterling silver wine coolers, an addition to our antique wine and drink related silverware collection. These magnificent antique George III sterling silver wine coolers have a Classic Campania shaped form onto a knopped pedestal foot. The lower bulbous portion of each antique wine cooler is embellished with magnificent chased decoration displaying scrolling leaf designs orienting towards the central point. The surface of each body is embellished with the contemporary engraved inscription 'Presented by the Inhabitants of St Helena to Colonel Mark Wilks, late Governor of that Island, in Memorial of their Esteem, Respect & Gratitude, 1816' to one side. The other side of each piece features the contemporary flat engraved coat of arms depicting party per pale, to the Dexter three heraldic roses above a paly of 8, to the sinister a bend charged with three escallops between three lozenge to the chief and base. The aforementioned coat of arms is surmounted with the crest of a wolf rampant collared, all above the bannered motto 'Pro Rege' - For the King. The upper rim of each piece is encircled with a convex band ornamented with exceptional chased evolute spiraling foliate designs accented with floral motifs. Each antique wine cooler is fitted with an exceptional pair of cast handles embellished with scrolling leaf emanating towards a central knop. The impressive sockets of each handle are ornamented with a magnificent cast and applied Bacchanal style bearded mask design.
