English 19th Century Sterling Silver Perforated Tea Strainer

About the Item

This beautiful and refined tea strainer was realized in England- arguably the birthplace of fine silverware- during the 19th century. It features a concave and perforated depression, perfect for steeping tea; a striated cupola form at top; a subtle dappled pattern inscribed throughout; a raised border resembling joined segments of bamboo cane; and an elegantly curved handle with a rounded point at its end. With its finely crafted form in sterling silver, this piece represents a superlative find for collectors of first-rate silver objects, or for someone who demands the highest level of elegance (and excellence) in all of their home furnishings, no matter how petit. Excellent condition. It is marked on the bottom with the assay mark "CJ". England, 19th century. Dimensions: 5" L X 2.5" W X 1" H.
