Louise Liljencrantz Furniture

Swedish

Award-winning designer Louise Liljencrantz looks to a range of inspirations to create furniture that introduces a sense of intimacy and belonging in a space. The lines of her shapely coffee tables, lounge chairs and other pieces draw on forms found in the natural world, and her distinctive interior design projects evoke the timeless quality and essence of the Scandinavian modern style.

Liljencrantz credits designers and architects from all over the world with having influenced her work, including notable figures such as Italian architect and designer Carlo Scarpa, American designer and artist Donald Judd, and French decorator Jean-Michel Frank, who got his start in interior design when it was little more than a burgeoning field.

Born in Sweden, Liljencrantz spent many years after high school working in the fashion industry. It wasn't until she had spent time running her own boutique that she realized she wanted to work in interior design. At 30, Liljencrantz returned to school to study graphic design.

Before she even completed her studies, Liljencrantz had landed her first project and established her own design firm in 2009. That project led to more commissions, and her career took off. Since opening her eponymous firm, Liljencrantz has created two distinct brands — Liljencrantz x K.F.K. Master Cabinetmakers and Veermakers

The designer prides herself on her studio's uncompromising pursuit of quality through ethical design practices and rich materials, and this commitment characterizes these brands — Liljencrantz is as known for her designs for hospitality properties as much as she is for her high-gloss Chunky Cloud coffee table and other striking home accessories and furnishings made in walnut, oak or steel burned in linseed oil. The studio’s designs are made by Veermakers or handcrafted by master cabinetmakers at Karlsson Fernaeus Kemppainen Snickeri AB in Stockholm.

Pair Vintage Cassina Le Corbusier, Perriand and Jeanneret LC2 Leather Armchairs
By Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, Charlotte Perriand Cassina, Cassina
Located in Highclere, Newbury
A pair of vintage original Le Corbusier, Perriand and Jeanneret LC2 Chrome and Ivory Leather lounge chairs for Cassina with labelled upholstery and serial numbers. The price shown is for both chairs. The LC2 chair, designed in 1928 by Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, and Charlotte Perriand, is a key piece in the evolution of modernist furniture. Originally part of a series created for the Villa Church (a private residence for a client in the Paris suburb of Ville-d'Avray), the LC2 epitomizes the collaborative spirit of the three designers. Its tubular steel frame and free form cushions marked a break from traditional designs, combining minimalist form with unexpected comfort. It was first presented in 1929 at the Salon d'Automne in Paris as part of a collection that would later be called the Equipement Interieur d’une Habitation (Interior Equipment for a Living). Alongside the LC2, the trio designed other iconic pieces, such as the LC1 Sling Chair, the LC3 Sofa, and the LC4 Chaise Longue. The LC4, in particular, is often considered one of the most innovative pieces in the collection, with its curved steel frame and adjustable reclining mechanism it was not just a chair, but a piece of furniture designed to enhance relaxation. As such it became a symbol of the modernist ideal—furniture that was as much about living comfortably as it was about making a design statement. The LC designs were created not just as individual works but as a broader vision for modern interiors, where furniture wasn’t just decorative but integrated into the living environment, serving both aesthetic and functional purposes. While the LC2 chair was part of this vision for the Villa Church, it wasn't designed specifically for that one space; rather, it was a part of an overall shift towards modernist furniture that transcended any one project. When compared to the Bauhaus metal chairs...

Corbusier LC1 Sling Lounge Chairs in Hair-On-Hide Leather, A Pair
By Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, Charlotte Perriand Cassina, Cassina, Charlotte Perriand, Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret
Located in Round Top, TX
Now known as the 1 Fauteuil Dossier Basculant, the LC1 chair was originally introduced at the Salon d’Automne in 1928 by the designers Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand. Since then, the LC1 chair has become one of the most iconic furniture designs of the 20th Century, with Cassina taking on production of the piece in 1965. Constructed from a chromed steel frame, the chairs have been ergonomically designed using a system based on the measurements of the human body to ensure ultimate support and comfort. The chairs have a compact silhouette, with hair-on-hide sling seats and tilting backrests, with armrests in matching leather. Timeless classics, these chairs looks as modern today as they did in 1928, making them the perfect addition to any contemporary living space. Cassina re-issued the chairs in 1965, and we attribute the production to Cassina, but cannot guarantee the producer because they are not marked. The proportions and quality of production are of a very high level. These are in very nice original vintage condition; there are some worn areas to the leather. They will be wonderful seating in a living room, as occasional seating in the family room, in your bedroom or dressing area, or facing the fireplace in the study. Le Corbusier was born in 1887 as Charles Edouard Jeanneret. He began experimenting with furniture design in 1928 after seeing a model apartment designed by the architect Charlotte Perriand, whom he invited to join his studio. His cousin, Pierre Jeanneret, also collaborated on many of his designs and Thonet was the first manufacturer of his designs in the 1930’s. Along with Walter Gropius, Mies Van der Rohe, and Theo Van Doesburg, Le Corbusier is often considered the father of Modernism. He created a range of chairs that express his ideas, most of which have become classics. The Le Corbusier Basculant...
