A fine and impressive antique Chinese Export Silver bowl; an addition to our Chinese/Asian silverware collection This impressive Chinese Export Silver (CES) bowl has a plain circular form onto a plain collet foot. The body of this antique Chinese bowl is embellished with two embossed and chased traditional oriental undulating dragons amidst cloud designs, all on a matte background. The decoration to the body incorporates a vacant circular cartouche. The upper rim of this impressive CES bowl is encircled with an applied thread decorated border. The hallmarks struck to the underside of this fine bowl include: Maker's mark: T&Co (Taylor & Co*) Artisan workshop mark: REN XIN 仁信 (Canton) This impressive bowl has been independently tested using state of the art technology (Niton XL2 Analyzer) and verified as 900 standard silver. * Taylor & Co were a retail store but acted as agents, and were known for their locations in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Tianjin. We are grateful to Adrien von Ferscht for his help in identifying this exceptional antique piece. Condition This antique Chinese bowl is a very good gauge of silver, excellent quality and in excellent condition, in keeping with age. The chased and embossed decoration is all very sharp. A very good vintage Elizabeth II English sterling silver caddy spoon modelled in the form of a jockey cap; an addition to our diverse teaware collection. This vintage Elizabeth II sterling silver caddy spoon is realistically modelled in the form of a jockey cap; the design is based on an original George III jockey cap style caddy spoon. The outer surface of the cap is encircled with embossed panels of ribbed decoration accented with stylised husk pendant drops. The peak of the cap is embellished with embossed star, bead and octofoil motif decoration on a ribbed background incorporating a vacant shield shaped cartouche. This unusual vintage silver caddy spoon will sit on either the convex or concave side of the bowl. Condition This vintage caddy spoon is a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in exceptional presentation condition. The embossed decoration is very sharp. Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the rear of the bowl are all very clear. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of vintage silverware. An exceptional, fine and impressive antique English sterling silver straight Military Thread & Shell pattern flatware service made by George Adams; an addition to our flatware collection. The pieces of this exceptional, antique Victorian straight sterling silver canteen of cutlery has been crafted in the Military Thread and Shell pattern. The surface of each handle is embellished with a paralleling thread decorated border accented with a shell design to the terminal. The reverse of each spoon bowl is ornamented with a thread decorated rounded heel. This Military Thread and Shell pattern cutlery set consists of 109 pieces: Basic service 18 table forks 18 table spoons 24 dessert forks 23 dessert spoons 21 teaspoons Additional pieces Soup ladle Pair of serving spoons Runcible/serving spoon Caddy spoon The pieces of this service have been crafted by the collectable, renowned silversmith and flatware maker George Adams of Chawner & Co in 1863; eleven of the dessert spoons bear a subtly different size to the remaining twelve, this does not detract from the service. This antique flatware service is supplied in felt cutlery rolls; which not only protect the items in storage but significantly reduces tarnishing. Note: Due to the nature of this service it can be determined it was made for military use. Each piece would have been embellished with an engraved crest which has since been removed; there remains minor signs of the engraving to some pieces. "Straight" means all the pieces are made by the same maker in the same year. Condition This thread and shell pattern cutlery set is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. Each piece has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition. The pattern decoration has sympathetic wear in keeping with age and use. Each piece shows minor signs of an erased engraved crest. Full hallmarks struck to the reverse of each piece are all very clear; there is some wear to some marks, in keeping with age. An exceptional, fine and impressive vintage George VI English sterling silver Art Deco style three piece condiment set - boxed; an addition to our vintage silverware collection. This exceptional vintage George VI sterling silver three-piece condiment set consists of a salt, a pepper pot and a mustard pot. The pieces of this fine silver condiment set have a plain cylindrical tapering form onto a circular foot. The surface of each piece is embellished with concentric bands of tooled decoration, all in the iconic Art Deco style. The mustard pot is fitted with an angular handle with a plain upper plateau. The mustard pot retains the original hinged hallmarked domed cover, ornamented with tiered concentric circular decoration and surmounted with an Art Deco style tapering cylindrical finial. The pepper pot is fitted with a push fit cover with pierced 'pepper' holes. The salt and mustard pot are fitted with removable blue glass liners. This vintage silver condiment set is supplied with associate salt and mustard spoons. These fine examples of vintage silverware are fitted to the original hinged leatherette box with satin and velvet lined interior, securing with two hinged catches. The interior of the box bears the retailer's mark 'By Appointment, Mappin & Webb Ltd, Sheffield & London' and each component of the condiment set bears the retailer's mark 'Mappin & Webb Ltd, Sheffield & London'. The exceptional condiment set will have been crafted in the same year, but due to the hallmarking system the mustard pot is struck with the date letter 'D', whereas the pepper and salt bear the date letter 'E'. This fine antique Victorian sterling silver bon bon dish has an oval shaped form onto a pedestal and oval spreading foot. The body of the dish is embellished with embossed fluted ornamentation accented with a central scroll and leaf decorated motif to the centre of the well. The undulating rim of the dish is encompassed with embossed decoration in addition to pierced simplified foliate designs. The pedestal is embellished with further embossed alternating fluted decoration with a plain rim. The underside of the dish bears the registration number 'Rd 163770.' Condition This antique dish is a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent presentation condition. There are some fire marks to the well of the dish, in keeping with age. An exceptional, fine and impressive antique William III English sterling silver porringer with cover; an addition to our 17th century silverware collection. This exceptional antique William III sterling silver porringer with cover has a plain rounded cylindrical form onto a circular spreading foot. The lower portion of the body is encircled with an exceptional band of chased alternating leaf designs. The body is further ornamented with the contemporary engraved initials 'WSM'. This cup retains the original hallmarked domed push fit cover embellished with a large chased stylized leaf motif in a swirl design. The cover is surmounted by an exceptional cast leaf decorated sterling silver bud style finial. This fine silver porringer with cover is fitted with two exceptional cast and applied S-scroll handles. Early examples in such exceptional condition are becoming increasingly difficult to locate. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of antique silverware. These exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver entree dishes have a rounded oval form. The surface of each cover is encircled with a fine band of bright cut engraved stylised scrolling leaf and undulating line decoration incorporating lozenge and floral shaped motifs. The decoration to each dish incorporates a vacant cartouche to either side. The surface of each base and the interior of the covers are plain and unembellished. The rim of each entree dish base, in addition to the upper surface of the covers are encompassed with an applied stylised Roman leaf border. An exceptional, fine and impressive vintage Chinese sterling silver four piece tea and coffee set with matching tea tray - boxed; an addition to our silver teaware collection. This exceptional vintage Chinese sterling silver tea and coffee service consists of a coffee pot, teapot, cream jug and covered sugar bowl, in addition to a matching tea tray. Each piece of this silver tea service has an oval rounded form with a plain spreading foot. The surface of each piece, including the tea tray is embellished with impressive finely engraved bamboo stalk and foliage decoration, all on a matte background. The teapot and coffee pot are fitted with domed hinged covers ornamented with a continuation of bamboo decoration and surmounted with the original circular rounded finials with satin wood resistors. Each piece of this impressive vintage Chinese silver service is fitted with plain angular C shaped silver handles, with plain tapering thumbpieces to the upper plateau. The coffee pot and cream jug are both fitted with a truncated spout and the teapot bears a plain swan necked spout. The Chinese silver sugar bowl is fitted with an impressive push fit cover, replicating the details of that to the teapot and coffee pot. This exceptional four-piece service sits to the original and matching tea tray. The tray has an oval form with oval inset handles to either end. Each handpiece and the rim of the tray is encompassed with an applied bamboo style border. This exceptional tea service benefits from the original hinged leatherette presentation case, with a satin and velvet lined interior, securing with two hinged latches. Such boxed services with matching trays are becoming increasingly difficult to locate. Condition The pieces of this vintage set are a superior gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The service has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition. The interior of each piece has been professionally cleaned and is ready for use. The original box has some signs of wear, but can be considered to be in presentation condition. The hallmarks struck to the underside of each piece are all very clear. An exceptional, fine and impressive pair of versatile antique English sterling silver three-light candelabra; an addition to our diverse candle holders collection. These exceptional antique cast sterling silver candelabra have a classical square form to a knopped column onto a stepped swept square foot, in the highly desirable classic English style. Each impressive three light candelabrum retains the original hallmarked detachable push fit scrolling leaf decorated arms. The branches (labra) support two circular waisted capitals, each encompassed with bands of applied gadroon decoration. The capitals are fitted with the original hallmarked push fit square-shaped sconces, embellished with an undulating swept decoration. Each capital of these antique candelabra centrepieces surmounts an impressive square drip pan, featuring identical ornamentation to that of the sconces. Each Victorian candelabrum is fitted with a third detachable central elevated capital and drip pan. These versatile three-light Victorian candelabra can be used as silver candlesticks once the arms are detached. The panelled waisted column of each candlestick is encompassed with further undulating ornamentation and gadroon decoration to the knops. The spiralling swept portion of the foot surmounts a plain stepped base, embellished with gadroon decoration to a plain collet style rim. These antique silver candlesticks do not have weighted bases. The base of each candlestick was made by William Brown in 1825 and the labra were crafted by Walker & Tolhurst Ltd (Walter Walker & Brownfield Tolhurst) in 1896*. These tall sterling silver candelabra, which can be separated into individual candlesticks, are a versatile and sophisticated gift for weddings, anniversaries or milestone occasions. Use them as dramatic centrepieces for candlelit dinners or display the candlesticks individually on a mantel, sideboard or table. * Candlesticks were widely produced and used in the early 19th century, with designs growing more elaborate as moulded candles gained popularity. To accommodate changing tastes, it was not unusual for matching candelabra to be commissioned at a later date, providing versatility and reflecting the Victorian preference for elaborate centrepieces. A magnificent, exceptional, fine and impressive, pair of large antique Georgian English sterling silver architectural column candlesticks; part of our ornamental silverware collection. These magnificent antique Georgian English sterling silver candlesticks have a plain subtly tapering columnar form. The large and impressive Corinthian capital of each candlestick retains the original hallmarked detachable push fit sconce ornamented with a plain moulded rim. The cylindrical columns are supported by a cuboid plinth to an impressive plain square stepped three tier base. Each plinth is embellished with a fine and impressive bright cut engraved coat of arms depicting the Head family coat of arms encircled with a belt accented with the family motto 'Study Quiet'. The bases retain the original contemporary engraved inscription 'A token of respect from Francis Head to her aunt Dame Mary Ann Head. 1803' to the lowest tier. Both candlesticks are fitted with turned mahogany bases to the underside. These magnificent Georgian candlesticks were crafted by George Eadon, George Kibbles & John Weaver of George Eadon & Co. This magnificent, fine and impressive antique Victorian English cast sterling silver table centrepiece has been realistically modelled in the form of a horse and huntsman. The model is embellished with details replicating the large horse's anatomical features, coat and mane. The saddled and bridled silver horse ornament is stood behind a gentleman figure bearing huntsman attire comprised of a hunting coat, loose breeches, riding boots with spurs and helmet. The exceptional male character grasps the horse's reigns in one hand and a riding crop in the other. Both figures stand to a solid silver base ornamented with a rockwork texture. This antique cast sterling silver model sits to the original painted oak wood plinth base. This magnificent example of Victorian silverware, crafted by the renowned and important London silversmiths John Hunt & Robert Roskell, is the finest example of its type. This exceptional, fine and impressive, rare antique Victorian sterling silver and celluloid vanity set consists of a hand mirror, a pair of hair brushes, a pair of clothes brushes, a pair of scent bottles, a pair of pin jars, a toothbrush holder, a soap jar, a hip flask and a boudoir clock. Each blown and cut glass container bears a plain silver gilt mount to the rim; due to the variety in sizes these versatile jars could be used for a multitude of functions. The glass vessels are fitted with a domed silver gilt cover, bearing an impressive applied monogram initials 'MK' to the centre; the toothbrush, soap and one of the pin jars have push fit covers and the second pin jar bears a screw fitment. The scent bottles bear hinged covers, which open to reveal the original hallmarked stopper and cork to the interior. The exceptional cut glass hip flask has a plain cylindrical sterling silver gilt mount with a hinged circular plain domed cover, securing with a bayonet fitting*. The plain lower portion of this silver hip flask is fitted with the original hallmarked push fit sterling silver gilt beaker; this bears further applied monogram initials, reflecting those to the covers. The surface of the exceptional waisted rectangular-shaped boudoir clock is plain and embellished to the upper incurved plateau with further applied monogram initials. The upper portion of the clock further bears a plain angular swing carrying handle with ball style terminals. The white enamel dial is ornamented with black hour Roman numerals, encircled with plain black chapter ring of minute markers. The face of this timepiece is visible through a rectangular bevelled glass 'window'. The hallmarked hinged door opens to reveal the original French eight-day movement; the door has a subtle rounded thumbpiece to facilitate opening. An exceptional, fine and impressive set of twelve antique Georgian sterling silver Hanoverian pattern table forks; an addition to our Georgian flatware collections. These exceptional antique Georgian straight* sterling silver forks have been crafted in the Hanoverian pattern with three tines. The posterior surface of each antique silver fork handle terminal incorporates the bright cut engraved crest of out of a coronet a griffin's head, all above the monogram initial 'W'. The anterior surface of each 18th century fork is plain with a pip to the handle terminal. Such straight examples of antique silver forks with clearly struck hallmarks are becoming increasingly difficult to locate. * 'Straight' means all the pieces are made by the same maker in the same year. Condition These antique sterling silver forks are an excellent gauge of silver, excellent quality and in excellent condition. Full hallmarks struck to the reverse of each handle stem are all very clear. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of Georgian silver flatware...
