This George V flask retains the original full hallmarked detachable push fit drinking cup which features the original gilt interior, this drinking vessel is a large example for its type. This flask has been tested and is water tight and ready for use. To ensure the flask remains water tight, the cork should be moist and therefore fully expanded to provide an effective seal. There are two recommended methods to ensure the cork does not dry out and shrink: Method one: Keep fluid in the flask at all times, and keep the flask on its side to ensure the cork remains wet. A fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver vase with military interest (Durham Light Infantry); an addition to our ornamental silverware collection. This fine antique Victorian sterling silver vase has a tapering cylindrical form to a domed circular spreading foot. The upper and lower portions of the body of the vase are embellished with embossed and chased stylized scrolling leaf and bead decoration in a swirl design. The body is further ornamented with a band of six cartouches amidst a shaped border accented with a leaf motif between each; four of the cartouches remain vacant. To one side there is a contemporary bright cut engraved crest of the Durham Light Infantry amidst the inscription ‘Presented to Officers, 3rd Bn, The Durham Light Infantry’, with the presentation inscription ‘Officers Race, won by, Lieut H J Sowerby, 1887’ to the other side. The upper rim of this impressive vase is encircled with an applied moulded border to the rim. The vase retains the original gilt interior. In 1758 General John Lambton of County Durham first raised the 68th Regiment of Foot as part of the British Army. An exceptional, fine and impressive pair of versatile antique Victorian English sterling silver three-light candelabra; an addition to our ornamental silverware collection These exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver candelabra have a classical square form to a knopped column onto a stepped swept square foot, in the classic English 18th century style. Each impressive three light candelabrum retains the original hallmarked detachable push fit scrolling arms embellished with reed decoration. The branches (labra) support two cylindrical capitals, each encompassed with bands of applied gadroon decoration. The capitals are fitted with the original hallmarked push fit square sconces, embellished with further gadroon decorated borders to the rims. Each capital of these Victorian candelabra centrepieces surmounts an impressive square drip pan, featuring identical ornamentation to that of the sconces. Each silver candelabrum is fitted with a third detachable central elevated capital. These versatile Victorian candelabra can be used as candlesticks once the arms are detached, alternatively, the labra may be conjoined to form a five-light candelabrum.
