Antique Sterling Silver and Oak Wood Pepper Grinders

About the Item

An exceptional, fine and impressive pair of antique George V English sterling silver and oak wood pepper grinders; an addition to our silver cruets/condiments collection These exceptional antique Victorian English wood and sterling silver pepper grinders have a plain circular waisted form, to a circular collet style foot. The stained oak wood bodies of these antique peppers are each embellished with three applied hallmarked sterling silver mounts. The central band of each pepper bears the contemporary engraved initials 'B. H. W.', in addition to the elucidating inscription 'Pepper'. This impressive example of antique silver retains the original stained oak wood cover surmounted by the functional sterling silver finial; this allows access to permit the grinder to be filled. The underside of each grinder retains the original serrated grille and horizontal securing bar. Condition These antique oak peppers are an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional presentation condition. Full hallmarks to the surface of each mount are very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of these examples of antique silverware. Dimensions Diameter 5.3cm/2.1" Height 9.7cm/3.8" Weight An accurate weight of silver cannot be provided as each pepper has a wood body.
