Oxblood Leather MR Adjustable Chaise Lounge by Mies van der Rohe for Knoll Intl
By Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, Knoll
Located in Los Angeles, CA
A beautifully preserved example of the iconic MR Chaise Lounge, originally designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe in 1927 and later produced by Knoll International. This particular piece is best attributed to Knoll’s mid to late 1980s to 1990s production, distinguished by its seamless heavy-gauge tubular steel frame with a continuous bend, stitched (as opposed to riveted) saddle leather support straps, exposed button-head cushion straps, and its original deep oxblood / burgundy leather upholstery. Unlike earlier two-position examples from the 1970s, this model features Knoll’s three-position reclining system, a refinement introduced in the late 20th century to enhance comfort and usability. The original leather cushion presents beautifully, with a rich, even patina consistent with careful use in a well-maintained environment. As expected of Knoll International’s production in the 1980s and 1990s, the leather is of exceptional quality, supple yet robust, complemented by thick matching saddle-leather straps with stitched detailing that reinforce the chaise’s luxurious character. The polished tubular steel retains its bright luster with only minimal signs of age, while the upholstery remains supple, surface-rich, and clearly consistent with Knoll’s late-20th-century construction methods. Highly versatile, this MR Adjustable Chaise...

Vladimir Kagan Model #100A Barrel Lounge Chair in Velvet, c. 1973, Signed
By Vladimir Kagan
Located in Los Angeles, CA
This rare collectors piece is the Vladimir Kagan model #100-A 'Barrel Lounge Chair' on ball casters, designed in 1947, signed with Vladimir Kagan Designs label. The gorgeous velvet is in a red color but with a hint of burnt orange tone giving it a beautiful warmth and softness that can benefit any space. Signature curvaceous arms make this Barrel chair easily recognizable by design fans and a go-to choice for top interior designs throughout the world. This incredible collector's piece is a glimpse into Vladi's history. The 100-A Barrel chair was designed in 1947, this particular example was produced in circa 1973 in Kagan's new (at the time) state of the art factory in Long Island, after the Hugo Dreyfuss factory burned down in 1972. Highly sought-after by both collectors and interior designers - signed examples like this one being the most desirable as Kagan's designs were often copied throughout the years. This Barrel club chair by Vladimir Kagan for Vladimir Kagan Designs would work great in a Mid-Century Modern, Scandanavian Modern or Danish Modern home or penthouse apartment but could also look fantastic in a Contemporary or Post-Modern room. Also consider mixing it up in a Traditional, Transitional, Classical or Art Deco room with a splash of juxtaposition. Would also be an apt choice in a commercial project such as a hotel lobby lounge or members club, creative design studio or high-rise executive office. Consider using as a side chair, cafe or breakfast table chair, bedside chair...

Warren Platner Bronze Wire Sofa for Knoll International, c 1966
By Knoll, Warren Platner
Located in Los Angeles, CA
An original Warren Platner for Knoll International sofa, designed in 1966 and produced in the late 1960s–1970s. Part of Platner’s iconic collection that transformed industrial steel rods into sculptural furniture forms, this rare loveseat / sofa features the elusive bronze wire frame, far less common than the nickel-plated versions, and no longer in production. The curved architectural silhouette is formed from hundreds of vertical steel rods, welded with horizontal rings to create a structure that is at once airy and monumental. The base is finished in the original bronze patina, lending warmth and depth that distinguishes it from later reproductions. Knoll ceased production of the Platner sofa...

Alan Siegel Post-Modern Craftsman 'Tongue' Chair, Signed & Dated 1981
By Alan Siegel
Located in Los Angeles, CA
This work of Post-Modern functional art is called the 'Tongue' chair by artist and sculptor Alan Siegel, exhibited in 1981 at the Betsy Rosenfield Gallery in Chicago. Signed and dated (1981) by the artist underneath the seat. Carved from Maple and Black Walnut, this gorgeous piece of art is something unique, fun and whimsical, and ideal for art and design collectors and investors. This incredible chair, which in of itself is a sculpture of collectible fine art, was designed as a figural man's head where the backrest is comprised of the hair and eyes along with a sculpted nose, teeth and mustache. The tongue makes the seat and below that for the legs of the chair is the beard and chin. Other Alan Siegel chairs were present in the exhibition such as the 'Smiling Bandit' chair and 'Laughing Bandit' chair which were also carved from Maple and Black Walnut. Ideal for Modern and Post-Modern homes, also consider for Mid-Century Modern, Contemporary, Transitional and Mixed-styled rooms. Works great as a side chair, hallway chair, entryway chair, occasional chair, captains chair for a dining table or game table, reading chair or fireside chair, or office desk or guest chair. By Paolo Buffa, Giovanni Garibaldi
Located in Los Angeles, CA
Experience the elegance of mid-20th century Italian craftsmanship with this beautifully restored secretary cabinet, crafted circa 1950. Designed by the renowned Italian artist Paolo Buffa (1903-1970), and featuring intricate brass intarsia by Giovanni Gariboldi (1908-1971), this piece is a testament to both artistry and functionality. The upper section is framed by glazed doors adorned with brass star inlays. Unlocking these doors reveals a burgundy velvet-lined interior with two fixed glass shelves. Above, a majestic brass-inlaid swan neck split-pediment design crowns the case. Opening the secretary desk door unveils a gorgeous fruitwood fitted interior accented with inlaid trim. A central brass crest with a working lock and decorated brass key adds a touch of security and sophistication. Flanked by three drawers on either side, each adorned with decorated brass knobs in similar style of Tommi Parzinger, the desk provides ample storage with its five central file dividers. The lower cabinet features a pair of finely reeded doors that open to reveal additional finished storage space. Supported by brass sabots, every detail of this secretary showcases exceptional craftsmanship and enduring beauty, making it a prized addition to any collection of fine furniture. The two parts can separate for easier transportation and shipping. There are brackets on the reverse that help to hold the top in place while in use. This Italian secretary cabinet...

This monumentally sized modular 'Camaleonda' sectional living room set (fourteen pieces in total) by Mario Bellini for B&B Italia, each section signed with labels as can be seen in the photos. This set has been previously professionally reupholstered with only light use and in very good condition. Designed by Mario Bellini in 1970 for C&B Italia, later produced after 1973 by B&B Italia after Piero Busnelli bought out Cassina and changed the name to B&B. This set consists of six sections labelled with C&B labels and two sections with B&B labels, meaning that most of this set was produced between 1970 and 1973 - the original production years of the Camaleonda, and making this set ideal for collectors and investors of art and design. *We have a large quantity of other Camaleonda elements (C&B Italia and B&B Italia examples, both in mohair fabric and in leather including some sets ready for reupholstery to a new fabric or leather of your choice) if you are looking for a larger set, contact us to discuss. By Fish Design, Gaetano Pesce
Located in Los Angeles, CA

Works great as an ice bucket, wine bucket, catch-all, vase, vessel, sculpture, planter, pot or jardinière. If you use it as a planter, we suggest an interior lining to protect the piece. ABOUT THE ARTIST: Gaetano Pesce, born on November 8, 1939, in La Spezia, Italy, is renowned as a leading figure in contemporary Italian design and architecture. Fearlessly experimental with materials and color, Pesce has collaborated with Italy’s foremost design companies, including Artemide, Vitra, Cassina, and B&B Italia. Pesce began his journey into design at the University of Venice, where he pursued architecture and graduated in 1965. Influenced by prominent figures such as Ernesto Nathan Rogers and Mario Bellini at the Venice College of Industrial Design, Pesce embraced a commitment to novelty and avant-garde principles. He co-founded the avant-garde architectural collective "Gruppo N," inspired by the Bauhaus aesthetic, during his formative years. Pesce’s portfolio encompasses a wide range of designs, from iconic furniture pieces to monumental architectural projects. His creations reflect a profound contemplation of modernity, exemplified by the La Mamma chair (1969), which evokes a prehistoric fertility figure, and the Organic Building in Osaka (1993), celebrated for its innovative hanging garden motif. Among his most celebrated furniture designs are the Up series for B&B Italia, including the Up5 armchair (La Donna) and Up6 ottoman (La Mamma), which challenge traditional notions of form and function with their bold, anthropomorphic shapes. Other notable designs include the 357 Feltri chair...

Important Pierre Patout Mahogany Dining Chairs from S.S. Île de France, c. 1927
By Pierre Patout
Located in Los Angeles, CA
This set of important Pierre Patout open arm chairs were from the first class dining room on board of the S.S. Île de France, circa 1927. With excellent provenance, this exact set was previously sold at Christie's New York on June 1, 2006 during their Ocean Liner Furnishings and Art auction as Lot 286. As seen in the last photo, they had a hammer price of $12,000 plus buyers premium (usually from 20 to 30% of hammer price) and had an estimate of up to $25,000. Keep in mind that this is in 2006 and the inflation rate since then has been almost 30% in total. One of the chairs still retains the Christie's label as can be seen in the last photo. These Pierre Patout french art deco dining chairs feature an open arm design, flared legs, scalloped Mahogany sections which make up the seat base and seat back. Covered in soft and sumptuous velvet which has a light orange-brown color. Such incredible craftsmanship and quality materials that you just don't find in todays products. This set is priced for the set of 6 chairs, if you wish to purchase only a pair contact us to discuss. Such an amazing set for art and design collectors or interior designers looking for something truly special for best client. These chairs have incredible heft - you can feel the quality at first touch. These chairs are just exquisite - get them while they are still available and before someone else does. ABOUT THE DESIGNER: Pierre Patout (1879-1965), was a close friend and associate of Jacques-Emile Ruhlman, creating designs for the 1925 Exposition of Decorative Arts. Patout designed the main gateway of the Exposition on the Place de la Concorde, and also The Hôtel du Riche Collectionneur, one of the most popular attractions at the Exposition. Inside it displayed new furniture designs of Emile-Jacques Ruhlmann, as well as Art Deco fabrics, carpets, and a painting by Jean Dupas. His success at the Exposition led to commissions for transatlantic ocean liners including the Ile de France, L'Atlantique, and, the most famous of all the SS Normandie. The highlight of the Normandie interior was the dining room, illuminated with rows of lighted columns of Lalique crystal. The SS Île de France...

Maison Jansen Attributed Leather and Gilt Regency Armchairs, Restored, c. 1940s
By Maison Jansen
Located in Los Angeles, CA
An intriguing set of restored armchairs, which are confirmed to be from the 1940s and earlier. The question is - how much earlier? Crafted in the Regency style, this set of Ebonized and Gilt frames chairs feature gold colored leather seats and a charismatic silhouette with a lot of interesting artistic details. *NOTE* We have eight available, they are priced as pairs. The chairs are signed with Mid-Century era upholstery tags and a business card for an antiques restorer. The business card is of a 1940s style and the address used is the style of address used between 1943 and 1963 which is before ZIP codes were used but after the implementation of the 2 digit Postal Code system. What is currently unknown is whether Fred H. Mehrhoff reproduced these chairs in that time or if he had restored them. Generally speaking, antique restorers did much more restoring than they did reproducing. Reproductions were mostly private commissions from local clientele. We found a 1935 newspaper directory with Fred H. Mehrhoff listed as a cabinetmaker in Ohio, which further supports his career as an antiques restoration specialist. Again, the question is whether he crafted these chairs in the 1940s or possibly 1950s, or if he restored them and they are much older - perhaps of the Regency period (early 1800s). If he restored these in the 1940s, which we are inclined to believe, they are likely an important set and from an important maker or design house, such as Maison Jansen. These have the aesthetic style and taste of Maison Jansen, and we definitely would not be surprised to learn these were used in a Jansen interior project at some point in the late 1800s to early 1900s. These Maison Jansen attributed armchairs would work great in a French Neoclassical, Classical, Art Deco, or Hollywood Regency home. Also consider mixing it up in a Post-Modern, Mid-Century Modern, Contemporary, Space Age Mod, Scandanavian Modern, Danish Modern or Zen / Minimalist room as a splash of juxtaposition. Can be used as dining captains or side chairs, hall chairs, desk or guest chairs, lobby lounge chairs, feeding chair...
