Collectible Line Vautrin Gilt Bronze Brooch, c. 1945

By Line Vautrin

Located in New York, NY

A collectible gilt-bronze brooch showing a sunlit lion was designed by pioneering French woman jeweler Line Vautrin, France, circa 1945. It is a small but mighty piece weighing 27.72 grams and signed “LV.” Vautrin’s brooch makes the perfect gift for a partner or a unique addition to an artist’s jewelry aficionado’s collection. Born into a family of metal founders, even as a small child Line Vautrin (1913-1997) was fascinated by her father’s business. She never received a formal art education, but by the time she was 14, she had mastered the skills of casting, chasing, and gilding bronze. At 15, she hit upon the novel concept of making artistic jewelry in gilt metal. She began to sell pieces almost immediately; Vautrin devoted herself to experimentation with new materials then and, indeed, throughout her career but remained committed to bronze. In a time when few women played such a role, she was a pioneering craftswoman known for highly original jewelry enveloped in wordplay and symbology. The turning point came when she hired a stand at the Paris International Exposition...

Solange Azagury-Partridge Ruby and 18k Gold Two Finger Heart Ring, 2002

By Solange Azagury-Partridge

Located in New York, NY

A cabochon ruby and 18 karat yellow gold double finger ring, by Solange Azagury-Partridge, 2002. This is an unforgettable ring, very rarely available, and surprisingly easy to wear. While Solange chose to call it a "Broken Heart" ring, we call it our "Never Apart" heart ring for the way the two halves of the heart fit together. The two parts consist of two sizes, a size 7 and a size 5.5 which fit readily together. Stamped SA-P, London Hallmarks for 750 and date letter 'C' for 2002. It has a hidden engraving. British jeweler...

Rare Hans Hansen Sapphire Ruby Diamond and Gold Bracelet circa 1965

By Hans Hansen

Located in New York, NY

A rare, vintage, cabochon sapphire, ruby, diamond, and 18 karat gold bracelet, by Hans Hansen, c. 1965. A collectors bracelet, a gem set design from the iconic Danish silvermsithy Hans Hansen. Begun by his father Hans Hansen, the company started making jewelry in 1932 under Karl Gustav Hansen. Between 1936-1938 Karl Gustav studied at the Academy of Fine Arts' sculpture school and took over the firm at the age of twenty five. He designed the first line of jewelry, called ‘Future’ featuring brooches, earrings, and rings, which sold very successfully. Hansen also employed other Danish modernist designers, who were to become famous in their own right, cementing the firm’s place among mid-century Scandinavian silver and jewelry producers. Bent Gabrielsen Pedersen worked there between 1953 and 1969 and was artistic director from 1962 until he left the company in 1969. Gabrielsen won the prestigious Lunning prize and a gold medal for design at the Milan Triennial while at Hans Hansen. In 1991 the company merged with Georg Jensen. Generally, Hansen made jewelry in silver and adopted the functionalist and Art Deco styles as inspirations. This bracelet, however, is a one-of-a-kind jewel, with the cabochon gemstones cupped...
